1996 honda civic SI HEAD problems need HELP
So today i noticed when i popped the hood oil was everywhere around the valve cover and theres a lil gap between the cover and the head. I notice when i looked at the front screws holding the valve cover down they just lift right up???? they arent secure, i looked in the hole and the little plastice inside the cover r cracked off so they cant screw into anything.
the car is missfiring like a bitch and cant seem to keep oil in it.
was planning on taking it apart and havin a look at it starting tomorrow, just wondering what I'd be getting myself into though.
I know i need new tube seals, and orings and all gaskets for the top end, I'm not sure about the head gasket though, seems fine, and the car drives fine once its going but stutters/stumbles from a stand still till after it gets movin.
any ideas before the engine dies? i need to get this fixed. Pics of the engine bay are below

engine overview( here u can see the oil leaking out of what looks to be from cylynder 1 and 4 and the head cover)

this is the screw i was telling you about that just sits in the hole and doesnt go tight, it just sits there and doesnt screw into anything because whatever it is that it screws into under the cover is broken. the mechanic overtightened it and broke the plastic peice.)

this is a closer up of the screw hole with the screw out

and this is the biggest bullshit setup of all. EXTERNAL msd can wired direct to the dizzy, how do i put this **** back to stock. there is no other components but the can and a little red wire going into the dizzy (also the cap is a clear see threw cap with the extra power prong needed to the can.

Well replace all valve cover gaskets. replace the screws they look pretty rusty and can break inside when you tighten up, put a layer of silicon around the head if you dont have all the screws for the cover so you dont get any leaks later and replace the sparks, spark wires, distributor cap and rotor for that miss fire you have. Before removing the sparks check if they are floating in oil if the are try to clean up as much as you can before you removed them.. hope this help
If that bolt isn't threading in, that's your problem. Clean it and use RTV silicone to seal it up.
The MSD system is pointless, the stock ignition system can support over 400hp I believe...reliably.
You probably have all the correct internals in your dizzy, if all you have is that coil and it's not wire to anything else. Just remove it and sell it to some dumb ricer.

yup im in canada, they are SI's here not dx or ex or w/e
their labeled honda civic SI's w/ the vtec sohc motors.
also yeh i need to take the msd out it was there when i bought the car but i need to get more pics of the inside dizzy cause i dunno how things wire up, the wires inside r unhooked and it just siots there in black tape, the little red wire running from the msd can hookes into a prong in there which is detatchable.
I also need to get an understanding on how to wire the internal coil back up, i just dont wanna buy a new dizzy. then i have to do head work.
i cant replace the cap because the cap is 5 prong because of this bullshit msd can being xternal. it needed the 5th prong. so an oem cap wont go on. GRR
I REALLY need help getting this coil back to stock before i do anything else.
Also today i took out the plugs took off the wires and took off the cap/rotor, i replaced the rotor sanded down the tips on the cap cause the wire is running threw the cap to the coilso i cant remove it anyway without putting it back stock and i dont know how.
replaced wires and plugs, the car has no more misfire and runs SO nice again..
so yeah all i need is liek you said the valve cxover gasket, tube seals and orings etc, also gotta fix this screw. its not threading because whatever it threads into inside isnt there anymore its cracked off, so i need to silicone it.
what kinda of silicone should i use or it doesnt matter?.
also any easy way to take the vavlecover off? i tried getting it off once took out al lthe screws etc and hit it with rubber mallet even, but it didint come off, so i just took it to a shop to do my timing n they got it off and put it back on or w/e, thats how the screw brokehe torqued it back to tight. he didint even tell me he broke it i found out on my own lol.
