Ok well I'm driving a Toyota Corolla...1984 =]

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 1997 Honda Accord sedan Limited with an auto transmission. Has around 170k miles and looks like new...it has been fully tuned up what the owner says and "runs great".

My toyota runs fine. But I'm just looking for something newer and better and a.....Honda =]

What are your opinions on the car...is it very reliable? I've heard the transmissions are bad (not good) in the 2000-2003 models...is the transmission in this Gen good? How's the ride? The handling? Tell me anything I need to know. Thanks in advance

The trans that you hear is bad is usually found on the newer V6 models

I am also about to hopefully buy one of these cars a 95 wagon.

Oh I see. I'm not sure about this car. I've been reading some bad info and complaints about tranny failure and stalling. If someone doesn't give me some good news ill just shoot for a Civic.

btw good luck with buying that accord. Buying a car could be a headache and for me its a PITA..

Generally speaking the 5th gen transmissions are bullet proof. I have no clue where you're seeing people having issues. I haven't seen a single complaint on H-T in years.

I would strongly suggest however having all the fluids changed after you buy it (or before if the seller will pay).

- tranny fluid (oem Honda ATF)
- oil
- coolant
- brake fluid
- abs fluid (brake)
- ps fluid
- etc

TheMuffinMan said it. Bullet Proof!

I've had my B1 5spd trans for years and I even ran it with my H22 engine til I got my the T2T4 LSD trans.
