Default Interchangable Parts for B series.

I did a search and found some stuff, but I was wondering just how many parts are interchangable on the B series engines. I have an civic and i dream of one day i may be able to afford an ITR engine to put in the bay, but until then ive been reading that some parts will work on any B series motor. Now im trying to figure out what parts are interchangable between them, because Ive been thinking maybe I could start off with a b16a, I could probably scrape up enough money for one by early next year with work and the holidays provided i install it myself (im gonna break my car ), but a b18c would still be far away. Well enough rambeling, my question is really how can i figure out which parts are interchangable between the B series engines (mostly the civic Si and ITR engines) or are all of them?

Most all parts are interchangable. But what parts do you want to know about? You could get the B16 and built it up. But why not just wait the extra time and save your self a liitle bit of money in the long run and get the ITR motor if that is really what you want. Better yet. Why not just get an H22 they cost abou as much as b16, but have more power then ITR's

Well, things like intake and headers are all interchangable right? Im wondering more about stuff like pistons and cams and internal stuff.
The ITR motor would be at least a couple years away because im still paying back my parents for the car, but they will still let me have some of my own money, like holiday/birthday and a little of my paycheck. And as for the H22, I'm not prepared to lose power steering/AC. I think that swaps way outta my scope of knowledge since i want to keep those. I plan on doing it myself somehow...

nope not interchangeable in USDM market, only in JDM land where civics already come with b-series motors, here in US civics come with d-series motors unless you have a del sol or 99-01 civic Si.

you can purchase an ls motor swap and do a ls./vtec setup for cheap ...

dont get hyped by Type R, its a myth, I've built many BS motors that kills Type R motors, so don;t get stuck on the price premium for a Type R swap when you can get a much better setup for less $$$ in your engine bay.

I believe pistons are interchangable between the VTEC motors, though compression will vary a bit from B16A to GSR to ITR based on the head. Rods will not exchange except B20<=>LS, and GSR<=>ITR. If you get a header, you might want to get one for a 1.8L. It will hang low on the B16A, but some B16A headers don't fit right on 1.8L blocks due to thier taller decks. Cams and such are all interchangable.
