Default new motor swap and runs like crap help!!

I just put a b18b in my 90 ls integra and I went to pick it up and test drove it and when driving down the road it hesitates at high rpm then when I came to a stop I had to rev it to 5 grand then pop the clutch to get it not to die I brought it back to the mechanic and he pulled the plugs and there was oil on them he told me he was going to adjust the valves then call me well he called me and said my distributor was making noise so he pulled it out and cleaned it I'm still waiting back to hear from him but I don't know why it would be the distributor when it worked on my b18a with no problems and ideas on what it is?

lol oil on the plugs and he goes for a valve adjustment huh? the just sounds like u need to replace the o-rings on the valve cover but it'll require the valve cover to come off anyways so i guess the valve adjustment is a good idea but i can tell u thats not the cause of the leak

your dizzy may have gotten wet/damaged when taken out.. it happens.. dont rule it out.. test the dizzy.. or at least he should.. if its at high rpms, i would look at the igniter..

oh yeah.. and if you have oil ON the actual HEAD of the plugs, i would look at valve seals.. that is what stops oil from leaking out of the head and into the combustion chamber..

Your mechanic likely looked to your distributor for issues related to the high RPM hesitation.

Is this a fresh rebuilt, or used engine?

dont get a whole new distributor.. like i said, its probably the igniter, or maybe even the coil, which are alot cheaper to replace than the whole dizzy.. aggaaaain.. test the dizzy with a volt/ohm meter to see if the coil and igniter are within spec.. if not, replace accordingly **thumbsup**

So was the oil in the spark plug tubes or actually on the plug in the combustion chambers, because that can mean two totally different things.

correct

oil in plug tubes = valve cover o-rings for spark plug holes

oil on head of plugs in cylinder = valve seals
