Which is the best clutch: Exedy Stage1, Stage2, Clutchmasters FX100, FX200, FX300
Alright, So I need some opinions on which has smooth engagement, and will hold up at at the track for a few HPDE's a year.
Here are the choices:
Exedy Stage 1
Exedy Stage 2
Clutchmasters FX100
Clutchmasters FX200
Clutchmasters FX300
I have some cheap 6 puck Kevlar/ceramic clutch that I replaced my broken OEM ITR clutch with because I was in a bind and needed something cheap at the time.
Well this 6 puck sucks. It holds great, but it is not for everyday street driving. It's either on the pedal, or off the pedal. Very harsh engagement.
I have used the Exedy Stage 1 before and liked it a lot. What I would like to know is do any of the others have smooth engagement?

I have an exedy stage 1 and it has been through about 12 autocrosses and 2 roadracing days.
I like it because,
1. Its the company that makes OEM honda clutches
2. Perfect balance for street and track (smooth engagement as you mention)
3. Takes abuse and performs flawlessly

I'm using a competition stage 4 on my gsr and the engagement isnt too bad; it feels almost like the exedy stage 1 I have in my daily.
I liked my exedy stage one. I have a 6 puck stage 3 right now(unsure of brand but have seen the logo a few times) and it grabs hard but the pedal feels weird during normal driving.
I'll eventually get another exedy depending on my power output

depends on what your motor is making as to what clutch you should get.
i run a mostly stock gsr with a exedy stage 2 thin clutch and a 7.5lb fidanza flywheel. Grab is awesome, pedal feels better than stock, and the flywheel really revs!- dont really notice any more engine chater

built ls/vtec. 190whp/133tq. The stock OEM TypeR clutch was great, but it pressure plate broke. That clutch seen 4 track days = 240miles of hard track abuse.
Does the Exedy stage 2 have smooth engagement like a stock clutch, or is it really catchy like a 6 puck?

i got a competition stage 2 in my turbo ls, it grabs really well and also has a smooth engagement. has bout 5,000 miles on it with some hard street driving and some drag strip.
How much horsepower can the exedy stage 2 clutch handle? Im doing a ls turbo build and dont know what type of clutch and flywheel to use, it has a tranny from a 99 si on a 99 ls integra, im shooting for around 275-300hp to the wheels on the stock block and at 400 when i build the motor this coming winter.
