as a rule never throw money at a car you can't see yourself keeping at least 3 years. if you see this as a stepping stone keep it stock and save for what you want. if you really are into DA's then buy what you like.
this is a real problem if you're 16,17,18 as you really can't look into the future and have so little life experience most the time with cars it's hard to see where you'll be 1 year in the future let alone 3. soooo, if you're unsure, stay stock and save for a newer car

. But IMO modifying any automatic Honda/Acura is not worth it. You will never reach the fullest potential the car may have by doing so.
If you don't mind a little bit slower of a drive and not as much control with the car. I get tired and feel like I'm gonna fall asleep when driving an automatic by myself because there's nothing really to do but sit

well for performance parts it really shouldnt matter if you're not racing with it. if u just like the sound of loud exhausts n wut not then just go for the muffler instead of the whole catback. also my buddy has an automatic accord and it's pretty quick, i mean not as fast as my ls or my gsr but i've seen it spank some ***. granted it's not stock motor
i love automatic cars, so by all means i support the decision, but honda motors never really see big gains from intake and exhaust mods. As far as my automatic DC...i opted straight for the supercharger.
automatics are only good in luxury cars and SUVs.
for an old integra....NO WAY.
having a 5-speed is a must for an old rice rocket. automatic is frontin like all those mexicans driving accords on wire rims with mufflers.

Im 19. I own a 1990 DA automatic. I recently swapped out the b18a1 with a b18b1 from a 98 integra. I ripped out the whole back of the car interior and re-upholsterd it with suede. Im going to lower it, exhaust, intake, headers and rims.
I dont care if its automatic, I do what makes me feel good. Plus auto is luxury
lol
plus my 2001 integra is auto too. with turbo

The problem that your going to run into, is that the auto in most of the honda's don't hold up well, the shift noids in the tranny's tend to go out after 100k miles, and then the tranny needs a rebuild. This can be slowed if a tranny cooler is added and the fluid changed on a regular basis, but the problem will always happen. The K-series and H-series auto trannies seem to be stronger but still have the same problems associated with them.
Which is why most people that really want a reliable car and tranny stick with a stick shift car. I personally have an auto, and know that it won't take a HP increase, so have a 2nd car to screw with, so if and when I screw up the tranny and or car, I still have my dd.

^yup, the autos in hondas are notoriously laggy and shift hard. ive owned several 91-92 accords in auto that were down right terrible.
and you cant control down shifts, or put into neutral to save gas without breaking your tranny, also slower acceleration.
integras are meant to be 5spd. too much fun.

i used to own a sohc vtec auto eg.i dont have this kind of problem?its to op..if u wanna drive auto or manual?manuel is faster for me.
i have an auto teg...wish i'd gone manual now...but im redoing some exterior stuff and throwing on a different exhaust. You can always go manual when your tranny drops out on you : )
I would never buy an auto 'teg, but you may feel differently. For one, a slushbox completely defeats the purpose of having a sporty car. For another, it'll take half a second at least off your 1/4 mi. capability, because you'll bog on launching and endure higher gear ratios. Not only that, but as you've heard Honda auto's are delicate.
I'd say it should be pretty easy to decide whether you want an auto or not -- if you're on the fence and not serious about performance then go for it, but if you have a preference one way or another, you should get the car that suits your preference. Switching from auto to manual is way to expensive to be worthwhile unless you're expecting to have your tranny fail, and if you're a MT-lover you will never be happy with an AT.

I have been running an auto DA for 2 years now i have probably only $500 in mods in the car and i am pulling 14s at the track i have a newer head off of a 97 ls with 80k on it with a port and polish that i did my self an intact manifold that i ported and polished my self then a tb that i ported and polished and milled the butterfly on dsm 450cc injectors and mods to run them 2.5 custom bent exhaust with a 40 series muffler and test pip i am all so running something that is not common in the Honda world witch is a megasquirt this is wired in so that the car ecu thick it i running the car but the megasquirt is really ruining a fuel and ingshon i have no header becouse in the spring i am going with a small turbo (tdo4) because with out messing the the transmission that will only take like 250 to 300 whp
