Icon3 Accord Brake Problems

Question....

Im new to this so help me out!

When ever Im on the freeway going 65MPH and Im about to exit off an exit. I step on the breaks to slow down my car and at the same time my steering wheel shakes like heavily to the left and right, but not too heavy yet. Breaks are good and front rotors are in good shape. This only happens when I am going at a High speed (65 & ^). Not on low speeds.

Now can anyone help me out with this or knows what I should do.

Thanks

tkhang

Usually (or at least in my case) this was indicative of warped rotors...
I thought that wasnt the case, but the moment I changed the rotors, problem was solved...

Yup, that means you need new rotors unless you've just replaced them. I learn that if you drop or hit a brand new rotor on a pavement hard enough, you'll warp them. You'll need a dial indicator to check for warpage.

No I haven't checked it yet but right now I am storing it due to winter. I will check that as soon as it gets warmer and I think I will need to replace them soon too, but they are still in decent shape as of now.

No I haven't replaced them yet cause they look fine and that shaking just happened in the fall. I think it might of been a pot hole that I ran over. Minnesota roads..shtty. I think new rotors might be a solution.

I'll check on that dial indicator first, n see whats up..

thanks

If you do get rotors try or get the slotted ones, they dissapate heat better therefore reducing your chance of getting warped.

pads are also gonna be no good, just throwing that out there. what model/year do you have. changing the rotors may not be as easy as you think.

I got a 94 Ex 4dr Accord. I might just go OEM style rotors cause pads still have plenty of life left. Not a easy job yes i know, but gonna have to start somewhere. Usually Someones always there to help out if I got a problem (hands on). Yea I can get new ones just in case too.

thanks

Check your upper ball joints while your under there. It's easier to check and replace a couple of ball joints than it is to replace a rotor that may or may not be warped. I had a high speed shimmy in the steering wheel and I thought that it was my rotors, but it was my upper ball joint. If your rotors are "warped" you will still be able to feel a pulsating sensation in the brake peddle even at lower speeds. Just throwing that out there for ya.
