Default Oil pump for ZC motor

I bought a 1990 ZC motor from Japan out of a CRX. I am overhauling it to put in a 1991 CRX SI, I wanted to get a new oil pump, I have been basically buying 1989 Acura Integra parts as this motor wasn't used in the U.S. in Honda's. Melling offers a pump, M178, for the SOHC 1991, 1.6 motor and I was told this would work , but since they don't list a pump for a 1989 Acura 1.6, I am unsure, Advance Auto and Autozone don't list a pump for the Acura. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any responses

perfect, use the link beans posted.

If it were a sohc zc it's basically the same as the d16a6 (stock civic/crx si motor.)

the current Honda part number for the DOHC ZC oil pump is 15100-P29-013 (which superseded the 15100-PM7-000) - this pump is not available from US Honda parts sources, but is available in the UK (pricey) - the US CRX/Civic oil pump 15100-PO6-A01 bolts right on and will work - the difference in the pumps is internal with the ZC pump having different, larger, gears - the ZC pump output is 17.7 gallons per minute at 6750rpm where the CRX/Civic pump output is 11.6 gallons per minute at 6250rpm - the 86-89 (86-87 are different from 88-89) Integra oil pumps will not work on the ZC - unless you want to pay the price for one from the UK (about $250), you are stuck with using the US CRX/Civic pump

Digging for more info......

So, I've searched a little and there are 2 sets of oil pump gears available for the usdm d16a6....maybe one is higher volume??? probably not.

What about a jdm dohc zc? Is that the same oil pump as edm? We can usually find a jdm dohc zc once in a while at the junkyards here near Los Angeles. Would a jdm dohc zc be the same higher volume pump as the edm model? I can't cross reference part numbers from jdm models, or I could check myself with the part numbers jlicrx has provided.

thanks.....

It's easy....

the zc sohc uses a usdm sohc Si D16A6 oil pump

the zc dohc uses the 1989 usdm Integra D16A1 oil pump

What's the output of the d16a1 pump?
Does it bolt right up to a d16a6?
I'm not sure Deetz that we're talking about the same thing, or maybe you don't get what it is I am trying to get at.

Does jlicrx have a part number for the gasket for the higher volume oil pump which bolts up to the d16a6? thanks.

I gave you all of the info, what else do you want to know???

There is only one part number for each of those applications! You have to remember that both of those applications are very old, and it is common for part numbers to supercede to a newer part number right from Honda!

i have never seen a D16A6 pump with the larger gears like the ZC, but could be

the JDM DOHC ZC and the EDM D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 all have the same oil pump

the 88-89 Integra D16A1 oil pump will not work on the DOHC ZC

there is no gasket for the oil pump

the USDM oil pump that fits is for the 88-91 D16A6 or 92-95 D16Z6

I sort of figured that, but thanks for confirming that for the other guys that read this thread...If it won't work on the DOHC ZC, it won't work on the D16a6 because the DOHC ZC oil pump bolts up to the D16a6......claaasssss pay attention!!!.....

From a Honda Factory online site (sorry no pics)
#6 15131-PM3-010 Rotor,Pump(Inner)(Sumitomo) no color
#6 15131-PM3-004 Rotor,Pump(Inner)(Yamada) no color
#7 15132-PE0-003 Rotor,Pump(Outer)(Sumitomo)no color
#7 15132-PE0-004 Rotor,Pump(Outer)(SYamada)no color

If I retained knowledge better, I would remember that the oil pump has no gasket, duh!
thanks again...jlicrx

Hopefully, I'm off to score a JDM DOHC ZC oil pump(17gpm) to install in one of my D16a6's (oil pump=11gpm)at 1/2 price day at the junkyard......woo hoo!!!
