OEM or Aftermarket Belts/Pump?
Hello everyone I was looking into replacing my water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt and serpentine belts on my 1999 Accord EX 4cyl Vtec with 109,000 miles. My question is what would be better to use for this job, OEM or Aftermarket parts? Also would it be wise to replace anything else while i have everything apart? ex. Tensioners?, Gaskets?... etc. And lastly will an impact be sufficient in removing and replacing the crankshaft bolt or should i pick up one of those pulley holding tools? Thank You
As for the Timing Belt, I would go OEM Honda. Most aftermarket t-belt I've seen break and still look like new. I've used carquest water pump, and it never gave me problem, but I'd recommend Honda as well.
Thanks, ive read that the aftermarket timing belts tend to break so you just reinforced that. the water pump i was gonna get from autozone but i may just stick with oem. thanks again

2 gallons of honda premixed antifreeze/coolant( highly recommended since its long life antifreeze with no phosphates, no borates, and no silicates which can chew on a water pumps bearing seal, and since your water pump is driven off the timing belt its a safe bet to use the right stuff and its also a cool blue color as well)

but, i like to also use honda OEM parts for important stuff...the other belts that are easily accessible, aftermarkets brands are ok
thanks for the GATES x-over... didn't know that

Its always a good idea to replace the tensioner (AND SPRING) and water pump. Your already going to have most of that side of the engine pulled apart to get the timing belt off.
I run air that was compressed within the walls of the Honda factory to ensure that I have the most genuine Honda air possible. It's overnighted from Japan in small air tanks. Sure, it might be costly, but that's the price you gotta pay to drive a Honda.
I've had numerous problems with air that wasn't genuine Honda, but never once have I had a problem with Honda air. I actually pump this same air into my engine's airbox because I don't trust the air here in the states.
Genuine Honda or GTFO, that's my motto.

What about the air in the tires?
