00 si, gsr teggy, or ek/eg hatch
this is the best spot to posed this thread.
I HAVE used the search buttom but on this website the search buttom is not our friends hah.
Ok so on to topic
I have around 6 grand.
I want performance over all.
But i want it to look as clean *** possible.
The si in my opioion is the cleanist.
But over info i have read the b16a2 just isnt that quick in a 00 si
The Gsr looks clean and it has like 10 more hp then 00 si STOCK
Or should i just get a hatch eg or ek thats already been swaped on craigslist.
Help me out guys, im still kinda a noob.
Thanks for all your help

do what you want.
If i were you and had 6 grand i would find a 92-95 civic HB/coupe/4dow for around 2-3 grand then get a b16 or gsr from HMOTORSONLINE and stick it in there....and start from there.
they have clean motors with low miles and i think that would be a good platform for you to start with.
either of those motors in a HB will be quicker than a gsr teg or 00si....if your planning for around 350+ hp along the line i would go with a the gsr.

what will the car be used for?
if we can get an idea on what your looking for, auto x/track, daily driver etc
i vote 00 si, which can be had for 6 but look for awhile and try and find the mintiest one for your price range

its gonna be a dd. But i heard the si is slow. And in Washington state they sell for 5k to 6k. So im not gonna be able to throw a turbo on any time soon. But they are the cleanist.
but again i want performance over looks haha thanks for your help though

Are you going to be using this car for drag racing or Autocross/Roadracing? If it's drag you want the chassis you can make the lightest. If it's AC/RR then you want something with good engine, good brakes, good tires, and good suspension. Si's are slow in a straight line because (revelation here) HONDA'S WERE NOT MADE FOR DRAG RACING. THEY'RE OUTSTANDING FOR ROAD RACING EVEN IN STOCK TRIM!!!!!!
edit: for the record I have a 00 Civic Hatch with a stroked Civic Type R motor and about another 4k worth of mods strictly for road racing. I daily drive it also...wouldn't recommend it for highway driving though.

i looked for about 3 months and finally found a 00 black si for 5999...it had minimal rust just a little spot over the rear wheel on the drivers side of the car...jus look the car over head to toe mine had 126xxx on it when i bought it and i found an oil leak that was cleaned up for the sale and i needed to replace the plugs wires rotor bud and distrubitor valve cover gasket and the o rings that seal the head off to the spark plugs..in all i put about 700 into the tune up and it runs fine..i havent fixed the oil leak yet due to low funds...just make sure you find one thats clean and not cleaned up for the sale..IMO the 00 SI is the cleanest the only other Honda\Acura worth buying is the Teggy Type-R
Dang that sucks that you had to do all that kinda stuff to it.
My dad has been into the car bussiness for over 30 years so when we buy my car it will be looked over by him first a hundendred times. Ha
And have you beaten any ek/eg s or grs of the line ?

Si is a waste of money in my opinion. You are paying so much more for basically just a b16 (and a few other goodies) and in the end, you are not even going to be happy with the b16. Get a GSR or do a swap on an ek/eg hatch. Also, be extremely careful when buying someone else's project. Someone with a swapped car has messed with the car quite a bit--you want to make sure they did a good job. If you don't have the know-how to determine whether the car was properly modified...just simply stay away from modified cars and find a car that is stock.
I just bought my 00si for 4k it had 126k miles on it but the engine was clean! If you want an si go with your gut and buy it. All you really need is a turbo. Don't rush the buy. Since you are gonna use it as a dd then I would just do the basic bolt ones like headers intake exhaust or a low boost and you'll be happy with the power for a dd.
I would get a gsr. Cuz it already has all the "little" upgrades that are going to cost u in the long run.
If the ek hatch came in an "si" trim I would have totally bought it. Instead i had to buy a stock dx andupgrade EVERYTHING.
So unless you LOOOOOOVE hatchbacks, go with either the gsr or the si that already has a lot done to it.
But if you're going to upgrade the shocks, the motor, the interior, the wheels, anyways.
Then just get a base model and replace everything

I'm slightly biased since I own one, but I like the Ek hatch. Personally, they seem roomier. But who knows. It would make an excellent DD but not the fastest without some sort of swap.
This is what I did. Ek hatch + CTR swap (mine came with a 1.8L stroker kit and a aftermarket LSD) + badass suspension + rear disk swap = rape
ID go eg coupe/hatch or EK hatch if you thing the si's are the cleanest looking go wit da EK hatch front end is the same and buy a swap you will smash a 00 si all day i daily drive a eg coupe wit a gsr and its perf. pretty quick and reliable for way less then 6k
hmm, i have own an ek hatch, 3 integra's and still have now an EM1. Let me start by saying i like all 3 cars!!
For me, it is a real toss up between the Si and the Integra. The Si i currently own i would say has been my favorite though....why? It is a rare model being produced only 2 years. Also, out of all 3 choices, it seems to be least likely to rust. Something about the way the coupes were built, the body stands up better than your other 2 options.
You'd don't like that lack of torque in the Si, me neither. It's worth the effort in upgrading the size of the short block imo.
just wanted to throw in my 2 cents

buy the hatch and put money into it to get what the si already has just make the right decision...plus the si is a becomming a rare car and they are light and fast as F**K when they are built right plus they are just sexxy
