New clutch not engaging?!
Hi. So here's my situation....
I bought a brand new clutch kit (4 puck clutch, pressure plate, 8lb flywheel, & throwout bearing) for an H22 4th gen Prelude a few weeks back. I finally installed the clutch kit 2 weeks ago. I drove it around a bit (softly) for about 15 miles or so.
As I was on the freeway for the last 5 miles (of the 15-20 miles) my clutch started slipping as if pulled it out of gear -but I was still in 5th gear going 80mph. I immediately looked at my speedometer and noticed that the mph needle was still climbing as my foot was still on the gas-this means that my flywheel was still spinning and work fine...Then suddenly the clutch will catch on again for a few seconds then slip. This issue went on for about 3 miles until I exited the freeway.
After towing the car home, I suspected that the clutch was glazed or something of that nature; so I decided to take it all apart again -which was a pain in the @$$. I inspected it and it looked fine. I took it back to the supplier where he inspected and test the pressure plate. He said everything looked fine. I insisted that he replace me with a new kit anyways.
Over this previous weekend until last night, I put it all back together -all torqued correctly. I fired up the car and the same issue occurs. I slight whining sound as if the clutch is barely rubbing/touching the flywheel -all while in gear. The car will not move.
The clutch pedal was adjusted and bled. The clutch slave is brand new (aftermarket). The clutch master is about 5 years old (aftermarket). I noticed no leaks in the clutch lines. Would it be the clutch master??
Please please advise. Any experienced sugguestions WILL be appreciated.

Are you sure you installed the clutch the right way? It sounds like you've put it backwards, so its physically impossible for the clutch to touch the flywheel even when fully engaged.
The clutch is faced the right way. The hub-side is faced towards the PP & the flate-side is facing the flywheel.

Sounds like something is amis with the new clutch and pressure plate assemblies. Did you do any comparisons when you chained out the old and put the new in as far as size and thickness. Did you check the flywheel for glazing and get it turned? Did you install new pilot bearing and throw out bearings? Just some thoughts.
I had a similar situation on a civic of mine. Swapped out clutches to a different brand, got a new clutch fork, flywheel, pulled my hair out. If the clutch disc was tight between the pressure plate and the flywheel when you torqued it down, then you should be able to move the car. I would look at the clutch hydraulics at this point.
dont mean to take your thread, but what youve just described is exactly what my clutch is doing... brand new and drove it nicely and broke it in ... why is my clutch doing this ?
Yea you might just need trans fluid. My friends car was doing the same thing. Revving high in rpm, when we finally figured out the problem it was trans fluid.
How do yo have the cluctch pedal adjusted?
How much slack (if any) is in the pedal? There should be a little bit of free travel when you depress the pedal.
Almost sounds like the pedal is adjusted too far, if so, even when you let off of the pedal the clutch will still be disengaged.
