good deal on a 94 lude?
i guess you could say im new to preludes, i have owned a 95 honda civic and now own a 98 honda accord. i love my accord, good in the snow and i just put a new engine in it but i have a very good opportunity to pick up a 94 lude. i live in upstate newyork and everybody who lives in upstate knows that hondas rust BADLY because of the salt. my aunt just moved back home from cali and she brought her 1994 prelude with her. its a very clean. it has 108,000 miles on it, new timing belt and a h22. she knows i love that car and said she will sell it to me if i make a offer. my question is what would be considerd a good offer? kbb has it listed for 3700 but that seems kind of low, i dont want to make an offer that would **** her off lol. one last question, it could be because i dont pay attention to ludes as much as accords but i have not seen alot of 4th gen ludes with the stock h22, are they somewhat rare?
$3700 sounds a bit high, but in consideration you know the car wasn't beaten to death (assuming your aunt drives normally)...also the low mileage and good body may seal the deal. preludes that go for 2-3k are generally high mileage and a rougher body...maybe shoot her $3500? if that's too much for her i'm sure she'll drop it for a family member...gl
To answer your question yes the 4th gen vtecs are a bit rare. For that price I would jump on it! I have owned two 5th gens and I know a 4th gen vtec is a hair quicker than my 2001 base 5 speed. With that car having the t belt done already and such low miles it seems like a steal. Pm me her number if you dont want the car lol. BTW post pics if possible!
i drove the car the other day and i love it. the only thing is im 6'2 and i feel kinda smushed inside of the car. it is in beautiful shape. it does need a new ignition put in it tho. it was stolen for the 3rd time right before she moved back home. im on the fence about it, on one hand i love how quick the car is and i love how it looks, on the other hand i love my accord because i can fit 4 people in it when i got camping and hiking and i love all of the space. she does not drive the car in the winter, the only time it has been driven this winter was by me. i would feel awful driving that car all year round because it is in such good shape. if i had the money i would keep my accord on the road and pick up the lude. she has told me she would trade cars with me. i would hate to part with my accord because i have put so much time and money into it, just put a new engine in it with a ported head and a stage one cam and cam gear in it. its not an easy choice!!
prelude's definitely aren't known for seating space, in some ways they're a bit unpractical but fun to own. the accord sounds nice too, can't go wrong with those 4 doors...hard choice
