Default 96 accord not getting any fuel, fuel gauge not working.

My car will not start and I believe lack of fuel to be the culprit. The starter cranks but the engine won't turn over. I sprayed some starter fluid in the air intake and the engine started for a brief second.

I've removed the main fuel line from the fuel rail, tried to start the car, and no fuel comes out of the line.

The fuel gauge is not responding when I turn the ignition on. I've checked the fuses and they are fine.

what could be the problem? fuel sensor...fuel pump? both?

Probably not the fuel pressure regulator since that controls the amount of fuel going back to the tank.

Do you hear the pump priming when you turn the key on? If you can hear it, you might just be out of gas. If you can't hear it, then unplug your fuel pump and use a test light to see if it gets power while the key is turned on. If it's not getting power, move to the main relay, but if it is getting power, change the pump.

If you make it to the main relay, check power coming out of relay. If you have power coming out, there's a broken wire between the relay and the pump. If there's no power coming out, then the relay is bad.

You don't have to test power going into the relay because the relay also controls the starter, so if the starter cranks over, you know that power is going to the relay.

Sounds like fuel pump to me, but if you did hear that prime for 2 sec then its probably not the pump.
