Should I buy this car?

He said the car is lowered, has been repainted (not necessarily a good thing), has keyless entry, but 174K miles on it (at least!). I did an autocheck and it came back with no issues but I still haven't run a carfax. The guy says the price is negotiable.

If I were to buy a car...regardless it is from private or dealer, I always do carfax check on them. Go test drive on city and high way til the car is warm. Pop up the hood for engine check. If you want to go another step further, take it to the shop to get check. Rather waste 20-30$ than couple of hundred of dollars, if not thousands.
Good luck...
Good luck...
3800 actually looks like a reasonable deal on that one IF everything's done right. That's right about in line with the dealer prices on one of those. He might be a tad on the high side... maybe 300-400, but if the car is flawless, the premium is worth it.
If it wasn't lowered properly, if it doesn't ride good, if the paint looks like crap, if it doesn't run right, ETC, take a walk on it.

i'd buy it, start bringin sedans back! i'd lowball though, get him to drive it to your place so he WILL sell it and not feel like he went there for nothing. then just sit there and talk **** about the car. don't mention anything good, just pick out all the bad things. dirty motor, **** loads of miles, new paint job prob cuz it was damaged.. then lowball, offer like $2300 and make him feel like he's getting a deal. so even if he talks you back up to 2600 or something, you still saved 800
FYi the car has 3 owners, guy claims he repainted it because the clear coat was coming off and it was looking ugly, he repainted the car the same color it came with.
