Icon2 carpet removal

I'm trying to remove the carpet from my 90 crx si, and i'm having trouble getting it out around the steering column(where the tape deck and cigarette lighter is.( if thats what its called)).we took out the center console and the ebrake cover and the covering for the "steering column" but we are just having trouble with that part. we don't want to cut the carpet to get it out from around there, but we also aren't sure if we should unbolt the steering column from the frame to slip it out around it. any suggestions? sorry if i made it confusing. thanks

Did you unbolt the center
Console support? Cause you need to to get the carpet out.

I never had a problem...did you remember to remove the lower door runners? there are clips on the sides of the carpet.

ya thats what i mean. thanks. we unbolted it and now we can slip the carpet out from there. but now we are having problems with the getting it out from under the dead pedal and the foot mats. it looks like the dead pedal is bolted or screwed in. maybe the same thing with the foot mat. do we need to go through the firewall to get the dead pedal undone. and how about the foot mat? thanks

u realize the dead pedal comes out? u dont just pull the carpet out from underneath the dead pedal. the cap of the pedal comes off then u unbolt the base.
