ATF Dip Stick is Loose...WTF?
i checked my ATF level yesterday and there was no resistance when i pulled the dipstick out of the tranny. i then checked + cleaned the rubber plug part of the dip stick. the rubber thingy on the dipstick didn't show any obvious signs of being worn out but there still wasn't enough friction to hold the dipstick firmly. on the tranny side, i didn't see anything but the aluminum tranny housing. am i missing some sort of sleeve that's supposed to be on the dipstick hole?
i dont think so, mine was the same way, and even with a brand new dipstick it was still loose, i think honda made it that way for the reason that things expand when they get hot and retract when they get cold...
i've had my car since new and it has never been that loose.
anyways, for the time being, i spun the dipstick around so that something is putting leverage on it.
