So I just got done preforming a wire tuck on my EM1(99si). I have the wiring done exactly the way Ryan @ Rywire told me to do it. the instruction walk you through it pretty easily. I'm pretty sure that part is done right. Now when I turn the key to the on position, I can't hear the fuel pump prime(walboro 255), but I do hear a click in the dash. I have my fuse block re-located into the glove-box, so I am thinking that the clicking could be coming from the relays in there. Aside from replacing those right off hand, how do I go about checking those. Also, when I try to crank it over, nothing happens. Not even a click of the starter. Any help will be appreciated. If there is any more info needed, just let me know what, and I'll get it right away. Thanks in advance.

 

check grounds, starter wire connections, dash lights come on with key on?

 

All the connections are good. Yes, the dash lights come on. The interior lights work, the headlights work, just no starter or fuel pump.

 

a wiring diagram will really help with this, but go to the relay block and find the starter relay, pull it out. most relays have 4 pins but some have more.....you might NEED to look at a wiring diagram to figure this out. you probably have a pin 30 and pin 87 or 87a, make a jumper wire and connect these 2, if it cranks then you have a bad relay or no signal to the relay to close. if it doesnt crank then you have a problem in the starter circuit.

and its basically the same procedure with the fuel pump system. relay is the best place to start though.

ok ill give both manual and auto since i dont know which you have.

manual: turn the key on, pull out the starter relay, 2 sockets have black&white wires(pins 5&1), one socket has a black&red wire(pin 2), and one socket has a blue&black wire(pin 3). use a jumper wire and jump between either of the black/white wires to the black/red. the engine should crank with the key in start, if not check for voltage at sockets 5&1 with the key in start. if no or low voltage at 5&1 you need to check on the security system, ill walk you thru that after you do these checks. remember also that with a manual you have a clutch interlock switch, one wire goes to the starter relay(black/blue wire)......the other goes to ground(black wire). to test this put the relay back in, key on.....with the clutch ENGAGED you should have 12v on the blue/black wire, then with the clutch DISENGAGED you should have 0v on the blue/black wire. this test on the clutch switch is with the key in START POSITION.

auto: you have to get to the harness at the shift lever, disconnect the black/white wire and the black/red wire. jump them together and try to start the engine. if it cranks, backprobe those wires and reconnect them to the lever and check for a voltage drop with the key in start.

dont think 99 si's came auto

 

well its showing a wiring diagram for auto in a 99 Si on mitchell.

 

Mitchell is weird like that. The car doesn't exist. '99 - '00 Si's (SiRs in Canada) were only available with a 5 speed manual tranny.

 

O.k. got the relay figured out. Took them out and jumped them. Put them back in just for the hell of it, and now they work fine. But my battery is low(10.2 volts). I am charging it up now. I'll let you know about that later today. Thanks "newtron63h". I will definitely need help with the stock security system if that turns up to be bad as well. Hopefully you can do that for a brotha. Thanks for everything so far guys!
