Default 94 GSR tranny question

Ok im getting a B18 out of a 94 GSR and i already have mounts for a B swap as i planned on putting a B16 in my ef, but this deal came along and i snatched it. MY question is as follows, is the 94 GSR transmission hydro or cable. I have the cable mount currently. Also if it is hydro what ill do i have to get to make it work in my 90 EF std model.???? thanks much

You will need a different Tranny mount and a cable to hydro conversion.

^stop yelling!

hasport is what i would recommend. it also happens to be nicely priced at the moment. it costs just as much to go the cheaper Ebay route.

hasport

eBay

or go with eBay, but still buy hasport. save $8 and get free shipping

personal preference and the best way imo...pickup a ys1 tranny. a broken one with good case or ls is perfect. internals from the hydro gsr drop into the ys1. you'll have to verify differential preload and mainshaft clearance. tranny will be cable actuated using hydro gsr gears.

Screw the different mounts and hydro conversion crap. Get a YS1 transmission case, then put the hydro gear set in there. I don't care what anyone says, this is the best way to solve the issue.

how am i suppose to come up with a Ys1 case. Seems alot harder then just getting the conversion kit. And i dont see the gains in going with the case versus just the kit. Its not out of my skill to do it. I have rebuild single and double counter-shaft transmissions.

You already have the mount kit for a cable transmission. if you sell it and buy a different mount then you will take a loss and have to buy another mount by its self, which is more expensive. You will also have the added expense of buying some type of hydraulic conversion. There are write-ups on this site that show how to completely disassemble transmissions, it's not bad.

There you go, the second one is a better price. Do it the right way.
