Help/info on Koni 8041's
Hi im going to replace my Tein superstreet coilover suspension with koni spss3 dampers.
I have never seen a civic running a koni and eibach set-up in ireland so im not sure on exactly whats involved so pardon my ignorance.
I have researched a lot on here and wanna make sure i have everything right before i order.
My car is 94 ej1,fork rear.I think i need the following
8041-1152 F
8041-1153 R
Ground control sleeves and Collars
SPRINGS
800-250-1000 F
800-250-1200 R
At the moment i only have the super street topmounts and willl be selling them with the suspension. So will a stock set of civic topmouns fit the 8041's. If not whats involved?
The 8041's i believe are race valved and shortened are they capable of being used with 1000lb F and 1200R?
And finally could anyone reccomend a good retailer of these parts in the US? Thanks

The car is just under 1050kg running on R888. Sorry but are the 3011's a spec below or higher than the 8041's because i was looking at the 8011 but cant find much info them other than they are very expensive. Well as you know im upgrading from really low spring rates the Tein's are approx 350lb F and 220 lb R. So from HT research i found a lot of similar cars using 1000lb and 1200lb. I might be lacking the driving experience to jump to that high a spring rate how do you find your rates? Im also running ITR diff with very close ratio transmission.
8041- Koni's P# for the honda application 94-01 integra/92-00civic (general/generic part#)
these are around $125-$150 USD each
8041-RACE- Koni North American's shortened/re valved OTS 'race' shock. IIRC Lee Grimes had/was instrumental in getting these made. And i think these are a NA only deal. Typically your would have to order the 8041 for $125-$150 each, and then pay an additional $200 each to get the shocks shortned and re-valved. I think these are around $1300 to $1400, maybe more I am not sure. They are also single adjustable.
3011- Race shock (was used in the mid-to-early 90's on indy/champ cars and earlier on F1 cars). Double adjustable, custom built to order units. These are around $500 each?? again not sure, maybe alittle more or less. Here is a link to the aluminum body ones, called 3012s. they are 1.5 to 2 times more expensive IIRC. http://www.koniracing.com/rr30.cfm
Here is the link to the Koni NA site with the 8041 "yellow" and the 8041 "race"

You can't take what you read on internet for granted.
From 350/220 to 1000/1200, you'll hallucinate. Make this more conservative, gradual...springs are cheap, crashing isn't.

Thanks for tuning in guys i know a gradual step up would be the right way to do it. Also thanks for the links slammed_93_hatch.
Id better reconsider everything again so, thanks for the input guys

What are you doing with the car?
If you are tracking the car I would highly recommend the 3011's. I race on them, and they are far better than anything you can buy off the shelf. I paid 2400 for shocks, sleeves and good springs, but there has been a slight price increase. However, that is about what you would pay for 8011-race shocks that were made into double adjustables.
Your spring rates will be kidney killers on the street. I don't know exactly what the motion ratios are on your car so I won't recommed an exact number. One thing I have noticed is the rear rate has a big effect on ride quality. Especially street use go with a front rate higher that the rear and a big rear sway bar.
Koni North America is awesome to work with. Their number is 865-984-3232

No never on the street. cruising Rpm's are well over 5000rpm. Motor is tuned on sunnoco 114 (Expensive). And the car is too loud for street. Also i dont thing the police/guards would appreciate one headlight and the noise.
The cars running 1400lb/in would be approx 1000kg's
