Exhaust question on 99 SI
I currently have some custom exhaust that I want to completely redo and was wanting some advice. It has a 2 piece DC header going into a mid pipe that looks like it has two resonators, to the s pipe, to some rattling beat up N1 type muffler.
Main question is: What would be the most economical way to get a good, somewhat quiet exhaust on this thing without spending a crazy amount of money. I am trying to sell it anyway so no point in spending $300 on this.
I found a cat back on ebay for the 3dr models for $99. I was thinking about getting that, then putting on a universal cat on the front right after the header.
Any tips, suggestions, or am I looking at this completely wrong! Thanks!

i bought a replica exhaust and if u dont have a welder to weld the hangers on after you cut them off to line the exhaust up correctly then ur better off doing it right and spending the money to have it done right or leave it alone since your selling it
If your piping is good, you could replace the existing resonators and muffler. a 28" Magnaflow resonator will replace most of the pipe from the "shifter bend" right down to the "S-bend" anyway.
Not sure you're going to squeeze it in that budget though. $70 for the resonator, $90-ish for any oval style muffler, $65 for a universal cat, add for flanges and fabrication, you're probably over $300 easy.

I do have a welder, that part is not the problem. Just trying to find out how would be the cheapest way of "rigging" something decent up basically. I mean what is on it now looks like it is about 20 different pieced. It is completely stupid looking. Maybe I should just leave it all alone.
I got some other issues going on that are more important anyway right now. Crankshaft Position Sensor and maybe a bad fuel pressure regulator.. or both..
