Depending on what brand you buy the price will be affected, I paint cars and i prefer PPG Deltron basecoat it runs around 300-350 a gallon and i have good luck with "shop line" clearcoat wich runs about 70 a gallon, then i use dupont 2k primer usually a quart costs me 45 bucks but it does a whole car. Depends what u want, there is a brand call Nason made by Dupont ive heard people get good results from and they are relatively cheap. Stay away from Omni made by ppg it doesnt cover for crap.
