Advice for a Newbe.... 91 HB DX D15B2
WHAT UP HONDA TECH!!!!!!!! Newbee here not really familiar with te sight so dont kill me please. I have a little problem but maybe some of you TECH experts can help me out. I just bought a beautiful 1991 honda civic Hatch DX, 50,000 original miles full Megan exhaust and some sort of cold air intake. Its is also dropped on some unkown springs. The car herself is beautiful she really is, but there is only one problem. She is way to slow way way to slow. I need your help on some ideas on how to push this baby to move faster and reach a 300hp goal. Now I know some of you are thinking I am stupid and the best way to do this would be to do a motor swap and drop a B18 or K20 in that baby but like I said the engine only has 50k miles on her so there has to be other things I can so. Thanks for ahead of time for any suggestions and help yall may have.
you got a tach? throw an si cluster in there that way you can know what your reving at, I got a 91 dx and its not to slow for a dd, with 50k on the engine a swap would sort of ruin the car if you know what I mean.
50k O.G. Mile civic? That is a come up. I would try to resell it for more then buy another shell and use the profit for that build.
Or just dont do much to it and leave it as is. But thats me

You payed 4k for a dx hatch? Please tell me your kidding. You shoulda got an eg or even an 90-91 Si with that kind of coin, at least then you woulda had a sunroof. You should just buy another engine and build on that then youll have a 50k original mile replacement.

Fully built mini me turbo.....ur trying too add more then 200hp.......use the search engine......if u spent 4k on a dx I'm sure a built mini me turbos just a drop in the bucket lol
4k is a steal in Hawaii my friend lol everything over on this side is over priced. I thought about a turbo kit and that is on the way but I want to build the engine first so I dont blow it up you know.
d15b2 bottom ends won't take 300hp on the stock rods. Wanting to keep the original motor "original" you're limited to ~200hp.
Change the rods and ruin the "originalness" and you're good for much much more. FJ distributors has a set of d15 rods that will take all the power you would want. I think they are still in the final stages of production, but will be available soon from what I've read.
In the mean time, MPFI swap, SI transmission, d16a6 cam with d16y7/d16y8 cam gear. If you can find one cheap grab a header too, but if you boost you'll need to get rid of it, so its up to you if you want to spend the money on one (why I suggest a cheap one)
Those mods will make it feel like a whole new car and will bring the smile to your face that's missing wight now

Thanks man thats the stuff I need, I dont want to keep the engine all original so the rods will be changed. Parts are a bitch to find out here in hawaii so something so simple as a MPFI swap is not so simple lol but it is possible.
If you use a sohc vtec motor intake manifold (d16z6, d16y8) for the MPFI it's worth a few more ponies over the regular si manifold.
Plus, it might be easier to find.

ok what would be better? If I threw in an SI Cluster to know what I am reving at, or just get a gage
