Help from anybody who has had paint work done or who does paint work.
Has anybody had any experience with paint work done on PY ITRs? My car was involved in a minor fender bender. Basically the nose skin and driver side fender have been replaced. The paint work seems to be the problem. The PY ITRs are a single stage paint, no clear coat. All of the paint companies show the mix as a 2 stage paint(base clear). Needless to say, they are having a bitch of a time matching the color, let alone trying to blend it into the driver side door. Now the hood, nose skin, front fender, and driverside doo will have a clear coat. The problem with this is the clear coat will have a deep shine, where as the factory paint will have not nearly as deep of a shine. If anybody knows what brand paints have been used or any other suggestions, please help. I want my car to look right again. Thanks.
Have the car shot in single-stage. Pretty much any brand of paint can be mixed single-stage. Mine was shot using Sikkens, but we re-shot the whole car. The car was shot single-stage with a clear coat.
actually what happens is that too much clear coat = different shades of yellow. (ala blending)
what you need to do is use a paint that doesnt have any additives (reagents) in the base.
then follow with clear coat. if your guys are good with painting they will know how to blend it in so there is not a noticeable difference.
also if you had shopped around i had a py fender for sale

The problem is the color match is hard to do because the clear coat shifts the color. or some reason, the clear makes the yellow shift to an orange tint. That makes the blend very difficult. Unfortunately, I believe the only way to get it right is to paint the whole car. That makes it a repaint, which I really do't want, all for a scraped nose skin and a dented fender.
All I know is it is possbible to to get right. When my wing got ripped off, they had to paint the hatchback and wing, and it matches perfectly. What I did, was I called my acura dealer and asked where they sent their jobs, and took mine there. Can you take yours somewhere else?
It's at my friend's Honda dealership/bodyshop right now. The service manager and I call ed around to several Acura dealerships to find out where they send the bodywork. The local place suggested by Acura, I saw the paint work they did on a PY ITR scared me. The guy who put the paint down on my car did a spectacular job minus the color match. He really lays down a superp coat of paint. Now we just need to know what paints are being used with what success.
