shifter to shift linkage problem

Default shifter to shift linkage problem

does a 97 civic stock shifter fit into a 2000 civic ex shift linkage? cause mine doesnt want to go in between the fork

yes it should as long as it's d series and the same generation.

the 2000 ex is a d16y8
a 2000 si is the b series b16a3

The shift lever for ALL 96-00 D series engines are all the same part number.

I bet you've got an EM1 shift lever.

it fits now. i had to bend the fork back cause i had a ebay short shifter and i had to tighten it tight because it was loose and i think it bent it in

that'll do it.

To add to this thread a bit, you can use the same D series shifter on any 92-00 Civic from what I've seen. I've been using the same B&M on both my d series forks and my B series forks, and I bought it originally for my y8.

As someone said, the EM1 shifter is slightly wider and doesn't quite work easily on the D series linkage, although a D series shifter will work on an EM1 linkage with no problems at all.

just wanted to know...do short shifters damage the transmission? or does it make no difference?

not if you shift right.

What damages transmissions is forcing gears too quickly for the synchros to mesh.
