Icon2 Over extended inner CV joint

I was replacing my struts and on the front right I let the knuckle drop which pulled out the inner CV joint. I tried pushing it back in but it won't go in. so opened up the CV boot realigned the bearings and pushed everything back in but am concerned that I won't be able to pack the grease in with it still on the car or that I might have damaged the CV joint. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

yea opening the cv boot was def a bad call...the bearings can usually be realligned by pulling slightly and extending the boot and turning....if you dont think u can repack them perfectly replace the half shaft
