Default The Misinformation Here Has to STOP Soon!

First let me preface my post by saying that I do NOT know everything nor do I claim to.

Having said that, let me get down to business:

I have found myself almost typing really mean **** lately because some people come on this MB and just type thoughtless replies to important technical questions. People hear something or even read something in a magazine and just take it as truth.

As a general rule, why don't we just keep our replies to ourselves if we don't know the answer to the question at hand?

I have been known to rip into someone and ruin a thread because the focus shifts from the original question to an argument over an incorrect statement by someone else and me or someone else correcting the incorrect member.

I just say if you haven't had actual hands-on experience or have witnessed something first-hand and really know the deal about it then just don't even take a stab at it and guess.

Sorry for the rant, but this **** needs to stop soon.

People that don't know better are probably reading this misinfo and taking it as truth when in fact sometimes it could not be more false.

It's a lot easier to be courteous to others when they aren't posting bullshit answers to important questions.

Can I get a witness?!?

Seriously though there is a lot of unprovoked negativity as well. It would be nice if people could asks questions without being belittled for their lack of knowledge. It has always been funny to me to see people become a little more experienced in something, and totally forget that there was a time when they didn't know anything either.

Oh yeah; I am sure because of this post sweeping changes will soon usher in the new age of HT

Yeah, I've seen a lot of copy and paste replies lately on here. But being such a huge message board misinformation will bounce from place to place until that person is corrected.

This is good point. I may only be a novice in this Honda business yet I can still recognize the BS some people post. Granted the search function on H-T isn't the greatest, but there is also no need for a thread full of "Use the damn search function" replies. There are certain things that you can search for and still not find the answers to, thats when the first hand knowledge is helpful, and mis-info and heckling is not

I'm with you!

I belong to a few other Honda sites and boards, and they all talk about how mean and/or rude the people, admins, are on Honda-Tech.

I agree that we all need to be a little nicer.

to you!

Well said, Tom
You've been one of the sometimes few people who'se been a genuine help to me when I've had a question. It would be nice if more people could be like that.

One thing I'd like to add is when people make opinion poles (which I don't really care for BTW) if you don't like what you see, just say it's not your preference or something, don't turn it into a flaming free for all. IMHO there's way too many replies of "that's fuggin ghey" or **** like that. If you want to flame, or anwser questions without knowing your facts, go post in Kills for a while & see how long you last. But if you want this board to be a helpful technical forum for fellow Civic owners, let's keep it factual, and keep it clean. Just my $0.02 worth.

yeah , i also feel liek all of us should refrain from sayings liek "oh thats gay" or" that is gay as ****"

how mature do these statements sound? as well as sounding insensitive. What if the originator of that post was gay, would be hurting their feelings wouldnt you?

or saying like you drive liek a woman...

just things like this.

i totally agree, I think some people reply to posts with BS, or flames just to get their post count up. I may not have as many posts as some on this board, but I've been here a while, I just don't think it's necessary to make comments on every post i read. if i can help someone out with a problem then I will, because after all isn't that why we're all here on this board to learn and share info?

I'll be the first to say that I've probably hurt some feelings here because I'll just lay into someone who posts up some BS and state it so confidently like it's true.

I understand not everyone knows everything at first - nobody really ever gets it all - but if you don't know don't post like you do please.

I'll try to be nicer to those who I'm disagreeing with when it comes to facts. I rarely rip on someone for an opinion unless it's based on ONE event or something.

Oh well, this thread might not help but it at least helped me to vent instead of taking it out on some guy who says that boosting a 10:1 CR motor is really bad.

I totally agree. Sometimes I am a tad bit timid to ask anything technical due to the fact of getting flamed.

i am sick of it too. it starts with two ppl disagreeing on a certain subject. then more ppl disagreeing over all the misinformation. then they just rip the thread apart and you forget about the original Q being asked.
