Default no LBJ circlip

I just replaced some lbj's over the weekend on 99 si knuckles, and I noticed there is no circlip to hold the lbj from coming out. Is it okay to run them like that? The new ones from honda didnt come with them either. It looks like this is how they came from the factory but I thought they came with a retaining clip?

yeah its fine. its not going to pop out in that direction once its pressed in and bolted together. its redundant and why its omitted in later versions.
