I crushed the nipple on my heater core...
hey, I was trying to pull a heater core hose off of the heater core where it pokes through the firewall and I accidentally mashed the heatercore nipple that the hose connects to.
it's no longer a circle, it's like an oval and the pipe clamp that holds the hose on won't grip right. How can I fix this?
I was thinking of trying to re-form it back to a circle but I don't want to damage the heater core by screwing up.. plz helps..
thanks

You can try reaming it out, but it might leak or you can spend 2 hours pulling your dashboard and changing the heater core. Also, I don't know how much meat you have left, but you could try cutting the bent portion off and sliding the hose back on the remaining piece.
same thing happened to me when i was doing a gsr swap. i reformed it with a couple bolts. i gradually made the bolt size larger till i reached the size of the nipple. then i put some silicone around it and put the hose on and it hasn't leaked yet. going on over 1.5 years.
^ I did that on a car before, with gradually bigger sockets. Also make sure to get the hose on as far as you can, and clamp it as far back as you can.
thanks so much for the helps, when I re-assemble my motor I will use sockets to slowly reform the hole.
put one in that fits, shape it loosely around the circular outside of the socket, then put in a bigger one, rinse and repeat.
honda-tech comes through again.
