Just wondering what the best lubricant for window tracks are. I've been debating whether the tracks need to be lubed or if the motors are going bad in my 99 EM1. Apparently its the rubber in the window tracks because when its wet the windows fly up and down like brand new. So anyone know what would be the best type of lube to put in there? Thanks in advance! And merry christmas or happy holidays!
I have manual windows and I put vaseline/petroleum jelly on the regulators when I replaced them, I don't think the rubber part gets lubricated, it would get on the window glass and make it look gross.
agreed, lube (and you should use WD40 or other silicone lubricant) will only delay the inevitable. which is you will either need to replace the window run channel or the regulator, or both.

Well my channels/tracks and my motor and regulator are fairly new on my driver side, and I've got a passenger side motor as well waiting for that one to go bad. The windows speed up when the tracks/channels are wet so I don't see any possible way of that being the regulator or motor. I had a problem for a while with my DS window coming out of track due to an alarm that was installed and wired to my interior light, well my courtesy light switch in my DS door jamb had a loose connection at one point and one night I started my car to let it warm up and shut my door...alarm never read the door as being opened so the auto lock kicked in and all of a sudden I have a shitty night. Used wedge and air splint from the trunk of our patrol car and in doing so, bent the top of the door/window frame thus putting it in a bind and eventually stripping the gears off of the motor. Honda told me to use white lithium grease but that was a major fail. And as far as getting stuff on the windows, they make this stuff for cleaning glass. I want some good, slick, yet resistant long lasting **** to put in the tracks..also going to do the regulator and moving parts accessible to the motor. Thanks for the input thus far
