katzenjammer84's 7th gen EM2::::CUSCO/KONI/RPF1/J'S RACING/WILWOOD/T1R
I held off on this for a while, but the car is almost done now sans motor. Next couple months I'll be pulling the ecowheezer D17A2 out and rebuilding it from the ground up.
Shooting for 400WHP on C16 using a GT2871R with KPro's assistance.
I'll be updating this thread as I tear it apart and rebuild the innards.
Thanks for looking.

Maybe for fun but not competitive. The peaky top end powerband wont work so hot for truly competitive autocross. Goal is an overall fun street car, nothing more.
gutted trunk
spare tire removal
rear seats removed
rear deck removed
carpets removed
kevlar composite shelled race bucket
passenger seat deleted
2-piece rotors with billet aluminum calipers
wheels (13.4 lbs each)
I say 2275 but I'll realistically go less than that. I want to get rid of all the sound deadening in the car, as well as pull the airbags, switch to forged wheels, F7 rear LCAs (3lbs of unsprung weight) and eventually weld in an LX or DX roof to rid myself of the moonroof assembly (50 lbs) plus all the added structural bracing in the roof to support it.
The roof sounds a bit overkill, but it really isn't. 50 pounds is a lot, especially when it sits so high up in the chassis like it does.

The rear seat weighs quite a bit. The bottom cushion doesn't weigh much as it's obviously foam, but the rear seatback does because it's hinged to fold. I'd say 35 pounds or so, the entire assembly.
But why waste the time cutting all that weight if your not gonna race at all? Or are you street racing?
This holds true for handling, braking and acceleration.
And no, I'm 25 years old I won't be street racing.
check out ephatch, theres a carbon fiber sunroof plug! this may be easier, but a little more pricey, for your sunroof prob, clean car btw, im a fan of function...... i bet its a fun sprinter to, i know my em2 loves the hills in central pa.. hows the brakes, did you ever think or up grading the rears to discs? ive got brembo slotted and hawk pads with some super blue amazing difference...!!! enkeis.... what made you decide to go with 10mm up front, and five in the back, im running 16x8's enkeis and just ordered a 10mm for the rear, since im running 5mm all around

The brakes are amazing, not only does it stop less but it shaved close to 30 pounds of unsprung weight off the car. Helped handling, acceleration and braking immensely. I plan on doing a rear disc swap once the rear drums need to be replaced (I'm at 86K, I assume around 100K they'll be due for replacement).
The larger front spacer is for mild understeer correction. I tried a set of 16x8's, I liked the feeling of the 16x7's far better. Better turn in and steering response, plus the limits felt identical. They do fill the wheel well out a bit better though.

I'll have a bunch of updated photos in the next 4-6 weeks, car is sitting in pieces in storage awaiting new parts.
I sold my stock interior so there's nothing but bare floor right now.
Ive done all of the above, including aftermarket steering wheel/airbag delete, removed radio/deck and all the speakers... we have the same brakes and suspension setup. We both still have a sunroof. Im running 11.5lbs SSR Comps/Type-Cs... and my exhaust dumps after the driver's seat under the car...
The last time I weighed it, it came in around 2430lbs(although I have no idea how much gas was in the tank). Im failing to see where the 115lbs+ comes from

Edit: lololol... nevermind. I have an Autopower rollbar. I didn't think it weighed more than 80lbs, though. I need to get my car back on the scales.
