hey, hope everyone is enjoying the holidays, just finished up with a zc swap the other day and everything went well and didnt take that long. everything is hooked up and ready to go but the car wont start, it tries but i get nothing, no spark in any of the plugs and i cant hear the fuel pump, the car does have an expensive alarm in it and i believe it might be the alarm getting in the way of things and i tried to turn it off but still nothing. i dont think i ever actually turned it off, there were tons of wires down there. i dont know much about the alarm or alarms in general so any help would be appreciated. One thing i didnt do is have the hand brake up and i forgot most alarms need that to be engaged. so ill try that, any general info would help, and if maybe there is a common problem(s) about swapping the zc that i dont know about then please let me know, ive read and dont think i missed much. ill post some pics later too. thanks in advance

 

Here is a pic or two of the engine, never had a zc before and i dont know if its sohc or dohc, i heard you can tell from the vc? if anyone knows please let me know the specs on the engine..

 

Its a single cam. Pretty much everything from a normal crx si engine is swappable.

 

ok, how did u know? vc? wat are the specs on the single cam?

 

A sohc zc engine is exactly the same as a usdm Si engine with only a different cam, that's it!

 

one cam or two cams?? can tell by vc, try to search sohc zc and dohc zc

 

this is what a DOHC ZC looks like, notice the valve cover covers 2 cams and there are 2 cam gears

 

makes sense.. hopefully i can get it running now to see how it performs over the a6, probably not a great difference. im thinking the distributor is bad maybe and im still trying to figure out this alarm. i think even if the fuel pump is bad id still get some spark, not sure

 

No spark and no fuel pump priming sounds like a possible main relay issue. Find a wiring diagram and a DVOM. Learn to read the schematic and then start exploring your wiring system to find out a which components are getting voltage and which are not. Trace it back to the source of the problem, repair it.. Then be better off for the experience..

Yea the engine was cleaned and painted, wish i could afford the tranny too, then the bay would have looked real clean especially after i delete the ac and paint the Vc.. whats a good deal you think for a zc non vtec sohc like the one i have?

 

i got a stock dohc zc engine but has the 22mm snout crank instead of the commonly 24mm snout. had to swap cranks over from my high performance zc to get a timing crank pully on.. just gotta replace any stock d series crank and it will run. has 40k miles on it.. normal price for that is 300.. not inc. shipping
