Default Jap spec ITR cluster gas gauge issue

i just bought a japanese spec ITR gauge cluster. upon installation i noticed that the fuel gauge moved from about a quarter of a tank all the way down past the E. which would be fine if my tank was empty and not topped off half an hour prior...the seller mentioned that all parts were tested prior to sale and is adamant about the gauge working so i may be stuck with this...

my question is do i need to do some type of special wiring to get the gas gauge to work or do i just have a severe gas leak that i haven't noticed???

im guessing you already know , but if you got a car that is 94-97 and used the 98 + cluster then that is why you were having that prob.

Ha - yeah, it would be totally helpful if you could post a link to the solution .... just for others' reference.

well i did a search on here and a few pages in i found a thread telling me to either swap the green wiring "sheet" on the back of your US cluster OR you can swap the ITR gauges themselves into the shell of your US cluster.

I chose to swap the gauges and now everything works just fine
