when i decel in gear the check engine light will come on.. when i turn the car off and back on its gone.. and suggestions

 

get the code first

 

mine does that too im obd0 it only comes on when i decel in gear and the rpms get around 2000

never checked the code though so im interested to see this

 

If you peel back the carpet and look at the ecu you can count the blinking lights and retrieve the code.

If it resets when you turn the key off,
Then usually the code will be for an O2 sensor..

Possibly the sensor is bad or it is running too rich...

Does your speedo work?

My speed sensor is toast, so my speedo doesn't work, and it will only give me the CEL after a bit of off throttle deceleration in gear. Not sure why, but if I never engine brake, the CEL never comes on regardless of how far I drive the car.
