The rear defog switch light (over the bezel top) stays on all the time without the key in it as well. I notice there quite a few wires that go in the back of the switch so is there a relay built in there too? besides that with the key off are the switches even powered? Any suggestion would be great. Might just need a switch but id rather ask to see if anyone had this problem. thanks

 

If the del Sol switch is anything like the Civic's, there's a built-in time delay relay inside the switch for North American market cars. It does sound like the switch is bad -- or there's a poor ground somewhere or crossed wire. Can you confirm that the defogger is actually on? Get a multimeter and test for voltage across the back glass at the two connectors.

 

ok, if the theres a time delay in there that makes a lot of since now. Ill get a meter out tomorrow and see if the defogger is actually working as well with it

 

Crap. I didn't mean time delay .... it's just a timer. Stays on ~25 mins.
