i got a 96 hatch w/ an LS swap in it. The car seems like its stuck in 1st gear..the trans wont actually go into any gear..but i can move the shift rod throughout the whole gear select box..if the selector is in the neutral position and i let off the clutch..it stalls like its in gear...ill throw the selector in reverse and try and back up..and the car will go forward...i think the shift linkage is trashed (or just hoping its the linkage and not the trans) just wanted to get some second thoughts on the situation..

think its my shift linkage or the transmission itself?

 

id say the linkage as well. If you the shifter just seems really loose and sloppy in general too that would make me think more of the shift linkage too
