Default Headlight bulb question

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to replace the stock headlight low beam bulb on my 01 Accord with a pair of white ones. Has anyone done this before? How easy/hard is it to remove and reassemble the headlights? And what type of bulb should be used?

Thanks,

Hunter

Owner's Manual
Advanced Auto Parts Manual
etc

I don't know where you got the idea you need to remove the headlights, you just remove the bulb from the back. It's probably a 9006 available at any auto parts store.

Don't have the Owner's Manual anymore... And I get the idea of having to remove the headlights to remove the bulbs from changing headlights on my Cadillac CTS.

wow changing the bulb on your caddy must be a project in itself hehe...
The accord is much easier because all you have to do is remove the bulb from the back of the headlight, and put a new one in.

Haha yeaup, I have to remove the front bumper and the headlights if I want to change the bulbs... Is there a tutorial/guide on how to remove the bulbs from the Accord?

Trust me you don't need one. Just pop the hood and you'll see how to do it. It takes not even a minute to change.

OK, I will take a look tomorrow. And the bulb is 9006? I read it was 9007 somewhere before I think, not sure though.

Bang.. check that and your problem is solved...

If you don't mind me asking, what "white" bulbs are you putting?

Thanks for the link! I want to replace the stock low beam with brighter/white ones so I can see better at night, probably the 9006SU even though it's got horrible reviews on Amazon.

I'm going to try to take out the headlights tomorrow. If I can I'll probably be ordering a sete of these, if not, I'll come back and ask more questions. Thanks for all the help guys!

ordering? If you go to you local auto zone, or auto shop you can pick up a set of silver star ultras for $50. (keep in mind, I had Silver stars before and They are really nice, but they don't last very long)

But it's $19.99 on Amazon after rebate haha. I'll go to my local auto stores and check their prices too.
I just tried to take out the bulbs in the car, couldn't do it. I can only think of one way - take out the bumper, take out the headlights, then take out the bulbs. Here's two pics I took of the headlights on both sides, not sure how I'm suppose to just pull the bulbs out.

all you have to do is turn the bulb counter-clock wise and the bulb should loosen up and then you just pull it out and disconnect the harness..then do the opposite to replace

I'm kind of lost. I tried that... The bulb is connected to the gray ring/bearing that's pointed to in the pictures above. Do I have to take out the screws first? If so I'd have to remove the headlights to do that because there's not enough room to fit a screwdriver.

The bulb is probably quite stuck in there, you're going to have to use quite a bit of force if you haven't done it recently.

I just turn the gray thing as hard as I can? I don't have to unscrew anything? Also, if I'm looking at the back of the light from inside the driver's seat, do I turn it counterclock wise or clock wise?

No, unclip the white plug, then twist the actual bulb (the 90 degree black arm) counter clockwise.

Ok, I took the bulbs out of the headlight... Just had to use lots of force to turn it. Now I'm trying to figure out how to take out the white thing.

The clip for the wiring? Push down on the ribbed piece and then pull down away from the bulb, you may want to wiggle it with a screwdriver to loosen it
