anyone kno where the sticky or thread is for the "regular gas or premium"
debate, i'm lookin for the differences and whether it is good for the
motor or not ect...
i kno for b16s b18s, turbo'd motors it's recommended, but what about
in general, jw thanks!

Studies have shown that you waste your money with that mentality, but have at it. In reality what the manufacturer recommends for the motor is best for the motor. Past that its a waste. Gas just allows for less pre-detonation in high comp/boosted motors. Your basic D16 will run perfect on 87 while your GSR/TYPE R motor will not. If you do anything crazy with timing (involving tuning) youll need to go higher octane.

the only "proven" benefit to premium fuel is the higher the octane
the more engine knock is prevented, so engines with higher compression
would need premium to operate smoothly, also it's a waste of money for
a motor not in need of it, plus it burns up wayyyy faster=$$$

 

haha nice. You should look into what the actual differences are, I will give you a hint it isn't quality. Most engines are not tuned to run premium. For example my civic with a b16 is tuned for premium...however i don't really notice a big difference with different octane levels. My r6 is tuned for 87 octane and running anything over 91 is noticeably sluggish and the mpg is also worse.
