Help me out
I have a 98 civic ex w/ aem cai. a few months ago i did 18.2 without the intake, 30/29 tire pressure, and at night so it was a bit cooler. Now with the intake i ran 18.25 w/ .558 reaction time, 2.7 0-60 foot, and 25/24 tire pressure. It was at same location but it was hot as hell. Im about a mile above sea level at the track. What times should i be getting? I was hoping for at least 17's... but this just sucks, slower time w/ CAI and good reaction time. I didnt miss any gears, but i think my starts suck bad. I dont really know if i should rev it to around 2-4k and dump the clutch, or if i should try to get off line without spinning. Can someone give me some advice? thanks.
Reaction time means nothing when your looking at 1/4 mile times. You could sit there staring at the green light for an hour and still run the exact same time. The timer stars from when you leave the staging lights.
Looks like your main problem is your 60 ft. times. 2.7 is god awful. Get those to around 2.3 or 2.4 and you be in the 17s easy. Try reving to around 4500 and slipping the clutch fast while adding gas. Even if you spin like crazy you should be getting better than a 2.7.

wow 18.2? thats a 16.8 sec car stock(i believe) i dont think being that high would make that much of a diff? well with 2.7 60ft times expect really slow et's. you gotta get it lower like to the 2.3 2.2's. practice practice practice. rev to 3500-4000 and feather off the clutch. youl get a hang of it.good luck
