'92 prelude
New to forum, I have a question. 'lude won't start, put on new wires, new coil, new dist, got gas to the fuel rails, spark to the plugs, won't hit a lick, have not checked compression, but it started just fine, ran good, and then it didn't. Can't imagine compression going just like that. Checked for water in the gas by running gas out of the fuel line into a clear mason jar.... no water. Stuck a lit match down inside the spark plug hole and have a blue flame that lights inside the cylinder. A flame shoots out when I blow air into the intake. Could engine be getting too much fuel?
I just talked to my brother he said if the car sat for very long it could lose compression, that I might pour some used motor oil into each cylinder to get the compression up, might have to borrow a compression tester from autozone.
how many miles. the timing couldve slipped. my buddy car sat for 1year and when he started it it ran fine but after he shut it off it didnt run anymore. His belt was missing like 5 teeth and it skipped when he shut it off. check your belt or compression like you said. also you might have gas in the rails but you need a noid light to see if the injectors are firing

Yeah, Hitman I have been looking on ebay for motors, also Craigs list. There are no shortage of engines. One from Japan with 35,000 miles between $750 and $1,000, not counting shipping.
Check fuses I know this sounds weird but your ecu fuse could be blown, your alternater fuse could be bad also. Check out these things it sounds dumb but my civic wouldnt start one time because i had a fuse that had a hairline crack in it it read good but it wouldnt carry the amps.
Will do bumpincrv, good advice. Honda's are so 'durn dependable it just seems impossible that one would just wear out, it must be something I am doing wrong. Not gonna pull the engine just yet. Just bought a new compression tester from Autozone--$23.00-- I'm gonna test the tester on another Honda to make sure the tester is working right. Would hate to pull the engine then find out my cheap tester wasn't up to snuff.
I called the local Honda Guru (Hung Trinn) he said the same thing pour some thick oil into spark plug holes, he suggested 90 wt., that it should start and there would be a lot of smoke. You are the 2nd person that said the timing might be off. How do I check this---timing light---,? sounds like another trip to autozone to purchase a timing light. Will try the oil trick first, Hung Trinn said not to leave Honda sitting for long periods of time without starting. Every two weeks "need to start".
