how do you remove radio on 97 civic?
hi,
I am trying to remove a stock radio from a 97 civic with keyless entry. I found this pdf file saying that the keyless entry module is built into the stock radio. All the instructions make sense and seem to be pretty useful.
see page 6 specifically please.
So if i understand this correctly, i need to splice into the original radio cable to access the power, speaker, antenna power, etc... This means that once i install the new radio, the old radio has to be on as well (just without the sound). Basically there are two radios installed and operational.
So my question is that can the power cables (constant 12v, ignition 12v) on the car handle 2 radios at the same time, in terms of power rating for the cable (like amperage)?
thanks for your help.

I could never fit it in without removing the faceplate. It sucked and eventually the program option stopped working.
Remember that everytime you disconnect your battery or it dies, the keyless will need to be reset. That means each time you'll have to remove that panel and reprogram it each time. It becomes a real pain in the ***.
But yes, it can be done and I never had any problems with it besides what I already mentioned.
