Default curious about sleeper exhaust

So, i live in an area where the cops LOVE to F*** with people for mods.. I want some more power, and am looking for a quiet, high flow exhaust..

I had a 2.25 HKS exhaust on my B16 ef back in the day, and it looked very stock.. it had the 2 little pipes and everything.. super stock looking.. but as soon as I floored it, it was beautiful and made good power..

That is what im looking for my DA.. Whats a good quiet exhaust?

40 bucks to weld on at a shop... sounds quiet tho with the 2.5", depends on your build, works great for turbo B series apps... for sleepers i mean

yeah.. im not going boost.. at least not until i get another daily driver.. haha.. then this thing will be nuts..

but for now, im just looking for some more power to be slightly more formidable on the street..

I have a welder, but im a lil weary of making the exhaust myself.. I mean, it wouldnt be that hard to weld up some piping and get a good quiet high flow muffler, but i dont want to lose power because of it..

greddy DT or stock ITR would be my votes for decent sounding and quiet. twin loops are wonderful too but worth about the same as your whole car

I have the Apexi WS2 and it is the quitest exhaust ever. You can hear my intake over my exhaust. Also it looks subtle too...

I would replace the cat with a resonator and do a twin loop muffler also don’t replace your stock intake just do a K&N filter the intake makes a huge difference also.

Had an exhaust shop make a 2.5 follow the stock fitting and had nice power gains with no shitty raspy can noises.

Just real clean respectful cruising noise and beefy screaming head turner when mashing on it

if there is nothing wrong with stock exhaust, then why even have aftermarket?

1. bigger piping

2. smoother bends

3. less restriction

4. better sound

etc etc etc etc...

But yeah...

also don’t replace your stock intake just do a K&N filter the intake makes a huge difference also.
Why not? i mean, i dont want it to be sleeper underneath the hood.. just on the outside.. i likes the was an intake looks and sounds.. lol... i mean, ill do an intake for sure, but im mostly worried about getting a few more ponies from modding my exhaust flow, without being too loud at low rpms and when im just cruising...

I doubt your car will be very quiet with an after marker intake they make your exhaust loud. Silencing the air going in is just as important and silencing the exhaust going out.

Look up twin loop muffler they make 2 passes through the muffler combined with a resonator it should do way better than a straight through design with out being to restrictive.

If you have money to burn the spoon mufflers are sick as hell a kid at my college has one on a very clean turbo civic its quiet but very sporty just to bad it cost all most as much as doing a B20B swap.

Buy an Es Oval or Magnaflow "stock" muffler(both look factory and can be had in various diameters) and match it to your desired piping, probably 2.5 would be ideal to support future mods.

I have the magnaflow muffler on my car, 2.5 from my previous all motor setup, I painted in black and it looks like a stock system.
