can i remove my front sway bar?
my passenger-side front sway bar mount has rusted off of the subframe. the guys at the garage tell me that it's beyond welding and that i need to get another subframe.
however, a guy i know who does a lot of car modification told me to just remove the front sway bar altogether, and see how the handling feels. if i like it, do nothing. if i don't, then either 1) replace the sway bar and the subframe, OR 2) stiffen the rear sway bar.
how does all this sound to all of you? what would you suggest? bear in mind that i don't really demand the highest performance out of my car - i'm just a regular driver.
a couple specific questions i have:
1) will removing the front sway bar put greater pressure/damage elsewhere on my car? will removing it be dangerous?
2) how safe/unsafe is it to drive with just one sway bar mount intact?
thanks for any help you can offer.

Fix it, removing the front sway bar and keeping the rear will tend to give you more over steer. If you removed both it would be better than removing just the front, but you will notice a difference, and not for the better.
Probably wouldnt be much of a noticable difference if you just DD your car.
Ive ran different set ups on my civic with front sway bar only, rear only, none at all, both front and rear, and they only time I ever notice a difference is when im actually speeding through a corner. With the front bar off, you'll get an increase on over steer, but it wont be enough to keep you from driving the car.

I drove my Accord with no FSB, and a 20mm RSB (over the stock 16mm), and it was nowhere close to oversteering. For a DD, it will be just fine.
