new to the circuit scene.
Hi everyone, well as my title says I'm new to the circuit community. I have been on honda tech for a good while now. I have been into the drag scene yet wanted to do some circuit racing since I can remember. I currently have a bone stock 98 ek hatch that I am building and will be dropping a 85mm sleeved B20Vtec swap in. Not sure if ill be doing any nitrous since its my daily driver. Well anyways I just began my membership with NASA, and looking forward to attending some events in the 2010 northeast region season. All tips. Are welcome. Ill be putting up my b series build outline later on for further info. I also have a H2B set up I bout off a friend for an incredible price, but that will be sitting in my basement till I decide whether to sell it, build it for drag or for a circuit project...
Welcome to the Twisties. First no NAWZ on track at all. And everyone in here is goining to tell you to leave the car alone and learn to drive.
If you have a question make sure you search this forum first. More likely than not its been covered at length more than once.

my suspension set up i am piecing together right now. so far i have function 7 spherical bearing rear lower control arms. as for coil overs im looking at either buddy club n+ or race spec, have not decided on which yet. ill also be going with an asr subframe kit with a sway bar. for the front im looking into getting omni power front lower control arm, and a suspension technique front swaybar. i have upgraded my entire brake system to a 2000 Si front and rear disc conversion. using brembo drilled and slotted in the front with brembo slotted in the rear, and ebc pad all around. as for wheels and tires i have not gotten to that yet. so everyone recommends staying with my sohc for now? my b20 will not be done anytime soon anyways so.
Run stock brake rotors.. you dont need slotted and drilled units.
Learning means to take steps not go go go, and spend spend spend.
Save the money for track time.

when i bought the brake conversion off a friend they had the rotors i posted so what can i do. there already there might as well put them to use.
Being that you are in the Northeast you'll be seeing me at the track. If you are planning on just doing HPDE feel free to run whatever setup you would like. If you have the intention of racing wheel to wheel you are going to want to take a look at the Honda Challenge rule book. With NEHC you will want to look into building your car to fit into H2 as this is where the majority of our drivers play. Look at the suspension rules as well as the engine rules. Feel free to ask questions but be ready to be flexable if you are told a part or modification is not legal.

As what everyone else above has mentioned already along with...
- Definitely save your money for track time and not mods
- Just makes sure your vehicle is in good running condition
- Learn what mods to spend on as you learn from on track experience
- Go out there to have fun, learn, listen to peers with more experience
- You are not out there to "smoke" anyone, just to enjoy your ride on the track
- Do it right the first time to save money and time (regarding mods)
Really general advice but this is what comes to my mind. Have fun in 2010!!!

I used to track a stock 99 Civic Coupe. Only mods were Koni yellows, ground control coilovers, 22mm rear sway, some decent brake pads, and some Azenis tires. The car was a blast to drive on track even though it had the stock d16y7 POS in it. Nothing feels better than getting a point by from a more powerful car once you've got some track time under you belt.
Once you get some track time drop in the B20 and upgrade to better brakes and you'll have a lot more fun than if you were trying to learn with the extra power.
