Icon2 Right Hand Drive

Is it really that much harder to learn to drive that when dealing with a manual?

I plan on buying one after I get a career going for myself. I would really like to have one, but when it comes to racing in a manual I still need work. Would I be better off learning in a Left Hand Drive, or go on to Right Hand Drive? I'm a fairly quick learner, but scared that I might force the gear; better to lose a race rather than a car I say.

lol.. no one knows whats right for you. but as soon as i got my JDM DC2 running that was the first place i went, was to the track. had a blast and by the end of the day i was very comfortable with the car. as time went on i was more screwed up trying to drive my girls car..

it was very easy for me to adjust. should only take you a day or two to get the hang of it.

the worst is passing on the left and and cutting medians when turning left. knock on wood i never curbed my car.

the clutch and stuff is still the same setup as a left hand drive isnt it? or is the clutch on the right also. If it were just the shifter and side i could do it, switchin the clutch around on me would mess me up

everything is the same on the floor. the ign is still on the same side, the right. the blinkers are on your right and the shift pattern is still the same.

x2 You just find yourself reaching for the door handle for no good reason when switching from LHD to RHD....

You're 18. You'll grow out of this phase.

Honestly the headaches involved with it, regardless of how difficult it is to learn, added to the harassment from cops (you're in VA) and the fact the car will either be:

- old as **** to be imported
- poorly welded/converted
- not a "race" car, such as the RHD Accord Wagons you can get legally
- etc

on the contrary. my boy has a rhd fd in pa. its the real deal. you can get real deal cars.. just gotta look .. but there is a price tag.

yea.. he was in the military and tore it down and shipped it back.. but you can find real deal ones.

on the other hand, it took me 2 years to build my dc and it was done right. ended up using 2 real rhd dc to finish it but, in the end it was worth the personal gratification. and it was registered and legal..

Honestly, I learned to drive on RHD, and I switch between that and LHD everytime I go from the US to Trinidad, so thats every few months... I have absolutely no problem with the switch in either automatic or manual..

For the first 2 days of each switch I sometimes hit my wipers instead of indicators, but thats a minor issue!

And exactly. He probably has it registered as a "parts car"

I've seen plenty of real deal cars, there's several Skylines near me, multiple Silvia's, several Integras. All real all imported.

And yes, there is quite the price tag, and your DC is more of a loophole than legal out right.

Is it worth it to pay an extra $10k for a 10+ year old car just so it is RHD? Not to me at all. And at high school age you change your "wants" so much it doesn't even matter.

This months issue of Import Tuner, Black Ops RX-7 is not regi'd as a parts car. It took us just over a year to put that car back together. it then went to PA. and was legally registered.

But if you got money coming out your ***, why the hell not. who cares what this kid does with his money.

the whole right hand drive thing seems a little dumb to me. i'm not saying that it wouldnt be cool but why not put the money that you would put into a conversion or importing a car into performance parts for a usdm car (or even jdm or edm or whatever you want exterior parts, ie. headlights, corners, bumpers.) i think the one reason i would like a RHD car would be for a Euro-R Accord or a JDM ITR. but that is just my opinion, not trying to say anyone is dumb for doing it. it just isn't a practical way to spend your money in my eyes.

the way you talk about "racing" makes me question whether you should have a car at all? are you planning on track days, or just racing your buddies and that guy next to you at the stop light driving the camaro?
