GSR and LS average milage per tank
the question
I am new to having a gsr, coming from an LS integra. And kinda noticed i get less mileage compared to my LS.
- So I was wondering what everyone's average mileage per tank is. From full tank to hitting "E".
My Results
-My LS got an average of 330-360 miles per tank fill up around 10 gallons to full
-My DB GSR is getting sroud 270-300 miles per tank, fill up around 11 gallons to full
Facts that affect mileage
this week was kinda in 270's because i was ripping on it hard, and racing it. lol
-also both my integras were 4 doors with shortram intakes, stock exhaust.
What about you
so whats everyone getting. do my numbers seem pretty average. Also this is mostly city driving, with some highway.
155,xxx miles automatic 4 speed trans. Castrol Full synthetic 10-30 changed every 3k, 3 inch spectra short ram, with a clean 3 inch spectra cone filter all the time, i have 4 filters i clean and rotate them. Bosch +4 plugs. changed 3 times a year. Never really changed my fuel filter. OOO and i run premium in my integra's. Because that extra 4 dollars is worth it to me. Also was running 205/60/15 toyo tires, on konig feathers. and was getting between 280-300 miles per tank on those.

77,xxx miles, gsr trans whatever oil previous driver had in it, short ram, dirty cone filter, need to put a clean one on. Whatever plugs previous owner has in there. Also running on premium gas.
When semster starts, fuel fliter is getting changed, ngk wires or msd wires are getting put on, and bosch +4 plugs are getting put on. Castrol Full Synthetic 5w-30 is going to be used. and a clean filter will be put on.
should boost me up into the 300+ a tank with premium.

Id get 350 to the 13 gallons with the ls and gsr trans and id get the same with the gsr and gsr trans. racing it i get like 100 miles to a 13 gallon tank.
Just gotta learn to drive if you want mpg

i'd be lucky to get 260 with my setup

and thats not bad for basically a b18c5, that you have made it.

it depends cause i do live on longisland where theres always traffic, but i dont do a lot of highway, i usually get between 24/25mpg which is around avg, i havent dont a full highway trip to see what i get i will actually be doin this weekend cause im goin to get my car tuned(basically stock internal motor with bolt ons but just want it to run a little better)
'95 LS B18B1:
Mostly stock (ITR b-pipe, Comptech drop-in filter)
~330 miles in the winter (11 to 12 gals per fill, 28 to 30MPG)
~370 to 390miles in the summer (11 to 12 gals per fill, 33 to 35MPG)
It's about 70% highway driving, usually 60 to 65 mph due to slow traffic, but I get up to 70+mph whenever I can.
'95 GS-R B18C1:
Skunk2 Pro2's, AEM CAI, JDM ITR pistons .25mm OS, Hondata S300, etc. - typical streetable all motor engine
I'd say about 300 miles to the tank. I could average 28 to 31 MPG on a tank, depending. It was tuned to run 15:1 AFR's during cruising. It still had to use premium, so the LS was better in that I didn't have to feed the pump $2 to $3 more per fill.

Comparing miles per tank is just silly, even if you say "from full to E" because each car will reach E or turn the low fuel light on at a slightly different point...hell, the same car can trip the light at different points. My car, for instance, has at one point had the low fuel light on for 45 minutes of solid highway driving, after which point I filled up 11.4 gallons...another time, the low fuel light came on on my way to the gas station and I filled up only 10.2 gallons.
If you want to compare gas mileage, compare average miles per gallon across a full tank of gas by dividing miles on the trip odometer by the gallons put in at the pump. Some people here have mentioned gallons, but that needs to be the primary point of data rather than miles per tank.
I usually get 265-280 miles per tank (I don't take it to E), and average 27-29mpg on my JDM ITR engine w/ GSR trans, SRI, header/cat/cat-back.

my 95 gsr swap EJ1 w/ blox im, JDM ITR 4-1 header, USDM ITR stock cat-back exhaust, short ram intake...i get about 230-250...each fill up is around 8.5-9 gal. and thats mostly highway and every day beating
My GSR gets about 310 on a full tank when I go home from school. Does anyone know why the car seems to drink gas faster after the half way mark?

Thats what i wanted to know. and i am sure thats what alot of other people wanted to know.
you could run an ITR basemap and buy a wideband to tune AF yourself. you could leave the stock ITR timing curve alone and just bring WOT to 12:5-1 and open loop to the mid 14s

bosch +4 really seem to disagree with these. if you want a higher end plug buy the NGK iridium ix, they are somewhere around $7-10 each and work wonderfully. as for wires you can get the NGK blues on ebay for $55 shipped. msd superconductors are also great wires but do not fit the stock wire looms or allow the cover to be bolted down correctly, they also cost more. oh yes, they also don't clip in the distributor like the ngk wires do. i would always choose an msd supercondutor on a v8, however, i think ngk is the better choice here.
Miles per TANK doesn't matter. What matters is miles per GALLON. That's because some people fill the tank when the fuel gauge is around 1/4 tank, and they put maybe 7-8 gallons in it, and others let it go below "E" and wait for the warning light to go on, and they put maybe 11-12 gallons in. Not everyone fills up the tank when the needle is EXACTLY on "E", and not everyone fills it with the same number of gallons.
If you want to make meaningful comparisons, tell us your miles per gallon. Miles per tank is meaningless unless you also say how many gallons per tankful.
