Default Advice?

i have a 97 accord. it was repossessd and put up for auction. it needed rims and a sound system.

i put 15 inch Konig Zero's and a sony Xplod system in

The Car is a dark currant pearl but is getting painted black. The rims are Black with red trim and i have already ordered some new headlights and tail lights. im going to get a spoiler but nothing Ricey, something kinda like what is offered when buyin on from a dealer.

now i want to focus more on performance, i have installed a short ram air intake on it but dont know what else to do.

i dont want to spend thousands of dollars. Im not looking to get a turbo, im 17.. im not going to be racing. i just want it to perform well. im lookin into purchasing a strut bar, any suggestions on what else ?

thanks in advance

Wheels and Tires (~$500-700)
Suspension (struts/springs/etc) (~$500-1000)
Swaybars (~$300)
Intake/Header/Exhaust (~$600)

Would be my suggestion

I have never heard of either, I would suggest you thumb through the Accord FAQ's website section for parts.

A combination of that and the HT sponsors offer good deals for pretty much everything on that list.

TheMuffinMan has pointed you in the right direction. For a header, try to get something like Megan Racing. They're cheap and will do the trick. You can do a high-flow cat if you want. For the cat-back, I would recommend having a local shop just weld you something up with a pipe diameter between 2.25" and 2.5". This way you can pick a muffler, resonators (if you want them), how big the pipes will be, and save money.
My accord had KYB AGX shocks and Eibach Sportline springs that I was very pleased with. Contact WildStyle54 for spings and shocks. He's selling his that are brand new in the box.
Do springs and shocks first. Suspension wise, you'll get more performance by doing those over sway/strut bars.

Nothing wrong with a short ram if it is the one that the filter sits between the battery and the fender. The cold air is a waste of time and money IMO. They aren't as good for throttle response ether.

If your just looking to get a bit of performance. I would stick to the simple I/H/E setups. Then you can focus more on quality tune-up parts and brake system. Most of this information can be found in the FAQ.

Are you having heat soak issues with the short ram? Do you think its coming from the filter end or the actual pipe?

I have a unique problem where my pipe on my SRI is absorbing too much heat, so thats where the heat soak issue comes in.. A CAI wouldn't really help my situation at all

Start off with an intake (like you did) with some exhaust modifications if you like the idea of making the car sound louder and arguably, better. This can also add a couple of horses/tqs if you do it right.

If this does not satisfy your speed craving look into maybe the camshaft or something else from a reputable company like Bismoto.

Never overlook the importance of quality suspension and tire parts. A good suspension will change the entire car's feel.

Yup, nothing wrong with a SRI. I've been a fan of short ram, never liked CAI cause of water.

Yup know how that goes. Oh well maybe when you get a little more money just buy the CAI and sell the short ram. might only cost ya an extra $40-50 if you can sell the one ya got for a decent amount'

And when lowering, You might want to think about not just buying springs, but struts and a camber kit if your goin very low. It will be worth it in the long run, cuz with your suspension, if somthin breaks ur screwed.

hate to say it. but get rid of that. they never look all that good. get something that is truely made for the car, like an SiR lip or Greddy lip. Costs more, but worth it.

IMHO, many people will consider them ricey and all. Personally, the DEPO blackhoused look the best as they are replicas of the real JDM Stanley headlights. And the tail lights, I would just stay with stock and remove the amber insert. But thats my opinion. Your car, do what you think is best to do.

My advice isn't going to be popular, but I think you should save your money and start life out on the right foot. Don't ruin your future over a car. Your car is going to just continue to get older and there is no way you can get back the money you put into it. $50 here, $100 there, etc adds up.

I would make sure your car is in tip-top condition while you go through school. Then once you get a good job, buy a car and have fun with it.

I followed this advice and I don't regret it ONE BIT! Yeah, it suked waiting, but the wait was soooo worth it. When I graduated from college, had money saved, bought a house, and got a good job, my friends were still living in debt and still had old cars. I went out and bought a brand new BMW. I then bought a few older cars to have fun with.

Hope you make the responsible decision and not end up like all these people who think it's ok to live in debt. These early years of your life are VERY important. If spent right, they can make the rest of your life easier.
