Default Noise...Without Cat...

If you remove the cat on your car will it be alot louder? Will it sound terrible? im going to be purchasing new headers and was just wondering if i should get a new cat high flow cat, or just do piping back to my exhaust?

Im in canada so there is no emissions to pass.

it will sound horribly like ****.if you wanna annoy the hell out of alot of people and have them hate on your car then go for it.id say leave it on though u only gain about 1 to 2 whp without it.if you really are set on getting more flow out of your exhaust then get a magnaflow cat that way youll still be tree friendly and have more flow.

With out a cat preludes tend to get a little bit more raspy from 2500rpm to 3000rpm. A good hi flow cat is your best bet. It will keep that non civic sound us prelude guys/girls are blessed with.

Definitely adds a little more BUZZZZZZ.......
I also attribute quite the exhaust plume under heavy load to it as well......

I dunno, it depends on your exhaust set up. Mine is a Hytech rep header with a custom 2.5 in exhaust with resonator and HKS Ti muffler and it's super deep, sounds like a 6 cyl. It just really depends on the header and the muffler on how it'll sound without a cat. Been meaning to chime in on the exhaust thread to let people know that a catless exhaust can sound very good if the right header and muffler are used.

Kronn98SH did a dyno for the header both tuned and untuned but he had a cat which is the most restrictive part of the system as well as a kinda bad welding job done to add a flex pipe. I got the header from someone I'm assuming who is part of private label mfg and he sold it to me in the classified area of preludeonline. If you buy this header though it would be best to have a custom exhaust made along with it since aftermarket brands aren't going to bolt to it since they are made to bolt to a cat. I believe PL mfg is a sponsor here though so you should be able to find the header on this site.

That's enough off topic for now though.

I redid my exhaust system put on 4-2-1 headers (from ebay) I cave a Downpipe about every six months d@mn the roads and it doesn't help that my bumper only sits about 6 inches off the ground. A spoon sports (also from ebay) cat/test pipe/ resonator IE. It is hollow!! Umm 2.5" pipe from the cat back well it was LOUD like really LOOUUUDDD oh and shot 3 foot of blue flame out the pipe when i shifted at high rpms didn't have alotta power tho no back preasure. SOO i added a 16" resonator also off ebay and a 6 or an 8 inch glass pack cant remember. Anyways I y'ed it just behind the rear wheels and it dumps out of (2) 4" rolled edge tips. And dude this car sounds mean a real low rumble when idleing. The whole build only cost about $250-300 US. Anyone wanna hear i got free long distance idk about cananda tho but you could call or ill make a video idk if the camera will hold the sound tho. Anyways, that setup works awesome for me but yeah its still pretty loud under heavy load. Hit me up for pictures or audio. Enjoy hope it works out. P.S. DO NOT RUN STRAIGHTS IE. TEST PIPE CAT AND NOTHING ELSE BUT TIP . Sounds like a jet that is about to blow up and also shoots flames great for dramatic effect but not practical and the engine doesn't like it. Oh, i have a h22a so my engine sound might be different im not sure what your runnin.
