From: Howcome we park on driveways, and drive on parkways?
Hey Guys,
Car is a '96 Accord EX Sedan
- 2 CEL's
- VSS & Fuel System/Evap Emissions
The transmission is slipping and it is getting worse....when moving from a complete stop, it takes a couple seconds more than usual to engage into drive.....also while merging onto the highway it will slip for a couple of seconds and then grab....when it grabs it is NOT a ridiculous clunking grab....
Once up to speed on the highway and maintaining constant speed, everything is ok....
Could just the VSS be causing this bad of slippage?? Dont want to buy a VSS if the whole trans is gonna be shot.....
LMK what you guys think.....

It is possible. If the VSS is out range spec wise, which could set the DTC, then it can tell the TCU the wrong speed of the transmission, which in turn would result in early/late shifting. The slow engagement from the stop is what worries me. Pull up the flow chart for the VSS diagnosis and see if you can determine whether it is bad or not.
