Default 95 gsr for $1500...what u guys think?

I found a 95gsr coupe for $1500. it has a clear blue title and 130,000 miles. body and interior are both clean. only mods are that its lowered and has a cai. The only thing is that the guy selling it hydrolocked it about 2 weeks ago and doesnt know what kind of motor damage there is. what do u guys think? i'm thinking somewhere 1000-1300 is ok.

considering you can get that motor for 1500 or less you would be with a gsr for 3000. Sounds like a deal to me, if you can do the work yourself and remove and install the engine.

if you have to pay to put a new motor in, well you would be spending as much as buying a clean running GSR.. And if thats the case PM me and I will go pick the car up! haha

cool. so your telling me that this kid doesnt know what he has and that i would be getting it for a steal?

i figure if i could get away with just swapping a rod or something, i can have a 95 gsr for -/+ 2000. plus theres about $500 worth of stereo equipment in it.

If it has clean and nearly perfect interior and exterior along with a clean title despite the the hydro-lock motor, then you are one lucky bastard lol. Just make sure he is not ripping you off by any means.

Get it.

You and my friend are some of the luckiest S.O.B's i've seen, he just came across an LS Swapped into a 95 EG COUPE for JUST 600 bucks, and all it needs is a TPS sensor and a New driver side fender.

I'm a project car "shopper" i guess. My best deal was a 2nd gen MR2 turbo for $400. had a blown motor and the paint sucked, but a gen 3 motor and a paint job later it was like brand new.

There is a little more to it then just swapping a rod. Motor sucked in water and can't compress it so the rod gave out and bent. Might of went into the cylinder and might not of.
Going to have to get new bearings and possibly some machine shop work. Either way for 1,500 you can buy it and part out the car and make at least a grand profit. Or buy a complete gsr short block for around 1,000-1,400 and have a running gsr for 3,000 bucks. No matter what get the car right now.

a GSR block for 1,000 is pretty expensive, you could probably find a complete gsr motor for that price

You find me a complete gsr long block for a grand and I'll buy it today.

Either way get the car it's worth it just to part out and make money.

I'd go for it, and do whatever you need to repair, fix the motor.
