5th gen DUAL EXHAUST?
It depends what you want out of an exhaust. If you want lots of flow but also good noise suppression it might be the only way....
are we talking about a full dual exhaust (4-2, then two cats and all the way back), or an axle-back dual? most dual exhausts are axle-back; there are a couple people with them in the pictures thread. the s2000 is setup like this if anyone thinks that i4's don't use a "dual exhaust."

You couldn't take advantage of scavenging with a full split system, you'd have to split it later, and really on a stock, or slightly stock motor you wouldn't really ever gain any performance advantage. Pure looks
Switching to an axle-back dual setup would be a cosmetic choice, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Most body kit components and rims don't add much if any performance value, it's for the look. Some people don't like the dual look, but I actually think it looks pretty good on the bb6; it's all personal preference.
its fine on the S2k, and many reputable companies sell them too. It DOES quiet down the exhaust note considerably. In my opinion its a good trade-off between sound and performance.
Companies such as T1R, J's Racing, Amuse are just a few that still offer dual setups
Non-extreme gains with daily drivability in mind is the goal of those exhausts I think.

This is not something that will hurt performance though. So with that out of the equation it does come down to whether you like the look or not. And yes, I consider the muffler/tip to be part of the aesthetics of the car. According to you, buying a body kit for looks is silly too, but people do it all the time. I see in your sig you have a Mugen '92; I doubt you bought that kit because of the aerodynamic advantages...
Here is mine. My car makes 450whp now. Its a dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust. It sounds better than any single muffler setup I have herd so far imo...while also looking classy. If you want to do it, do it. I would stay away from two mufflers tho, that would look a bit ridiculous. I have 1 inline 3" magnaflow and 2 3" tips in the below picture. I now have 3.5" tips and love it. Car sounds absolutely beautiful and I am in love with the back of my car lol.

You gotta run it right. Some people run 1 pipe and simply put a 90 off of it. It just a restriction and you end up with 1 side doing all the work. I did a split right in the middle. Here is a picture of how it is ran.

Why run two mufflers when you can one run? That would save weight. Two fart cans would look extra fail. BTW I am not worried about the extra 25 or 30lbs of exhaust. The car makes more than enough power to over shadow that.
Take a look at the new Evo X's rear. Or even the lexus is250 rear. Classic s2000?... These are all 4 cylinders with a nice and classy "dual" exhaust setups. It alone sets my car apart from every other Honda on the road. It is probably one of my favorite mods. It was very pricey but so very worth it, in my eyes.

But back on topic. So cutting the exhaust pulses in 2 won't do anything to performance? What's your reasoning behind this? On second thought, I don't want to hear it. I'm done with this thread, later.
This thread is comedy. Projectbb6 created a awesome dual exhaust on a monster of a prelude and it looks good and sounds amazing. He should post his sound clip, it makes the majority of single style exhausts on ludes sound like ****.
I'd say he should take a single exhaust and dyno it compared to his dual but that would cost him money and i am sure he could careless about proving a bunch of people whining about what they think "looks" or "performs" best. Most people who tend to whine about this kind of pointless crap haven't tested ideas out and just go on other peoples assumptions as well.
